Just had my 1,000 miles oil change, combines with BCM recall done.
The dealer claimed:
Services Performed
  • Vehicle serviced
  • Recommended maintenance performed
  • Maintenance inspection completed
  • Oil and filter changed
  • Tires rotated
Though, I can see the Recall is Closed in the FordPass, but Oil Life Remaining never got updated and stays at 90-ish %.
Wondering if they really changed the oil and how do the FordPass updates happen in this case?

In the car, check the OLM via the menus (it'll differ from the S550 to S650); see if the dealer reset that, after the oil change was completed. Unless you drove a heap of miles or went tracking shortly thereafter, it should decrement about 2%+ a week.

Regarding the Ford Pass App, down-swipe on the oil life status screen to re-sync the app to the car; it might just need an update from the car.

OLM is reset (to 100%) from the car, not the app.

Sounds as though the tech simply forgot to reset the oil life monitor.

Correct, looks like they forgot to reset it in the car. Did it manually myself yesterday, it got synced with the App now.

those are the things that always make me question. Acknowledging the occasional ‘slip-up’, it would seem to be part of the procedure, i mean arrgghh, took the time to put it the computer to make sure the charge code was correct and what not but forgot to reset the reason for the visit? I know i know done it myself but then again i’m the one paying myself so it’s on me… ggrrrrr. Ok sorry vent done.

The service tech who's doing the oil change isn't the same person who enters the information into the computer for the invoice. Screws fall out. The world is an imperfect place. We've all forgotten to reset something after we've serviced it.

Glad it was something simple. If you haven't already, might be a good time to check oil level and the like. Not to insert any drama, but they don't always put in the correct amount of oil. Trust, but verify.

Sometimes I wonder if the techs actually change your oil. Like...we don't know whats happening on the bays...

The oil on the dipstick should show almost clear. If it looks dark might not have been changed. I really have to have the stick in proper light to get a good reading after a fresh change.

No, it means it's far less likely that the same person put something in one place but not another, and more likely that it happens when 2+ people are doing it.
