No, it means it's far less likely that the same person put something in one place but not another, and more likely that it happens when 2+ people are doing it.
But you said the one doing the doing isn’t doing the note and the one doing the noting isn’t doing the do. Oily thumbprint will do as a checkmark on the audit worksheet, though. Imo it shouldn't be on the bill until the tech ( not the receptionist ) actually does the work.

They don't use paper.

I've had the oil changed twice (each at a different dealer). Both times there was evidence left on the car. I recommend reaching down there to wipe up the mess.

Just had my 1,000 miles oil change, combines with BCM recall done.
The dealer claimed:
Services Performed
  • Vehicle serviced
  • Recommended maintenance performed
  • Maintenance inspection completed
  • Oil and filter changed
  • Tires rotated
Though, I can see the Recall is Closed in the FordPass, but Oil Life Remaining never got updated and stays at 90-ish %.
Wondering if they really changed the oil and how do the FordPass updates happen in this case?
Also experienced a duplication of the anomaly:

recall inspection and engine oil and filter changed (and reset life monitor noted on invoice) but fordpass is not showing that the recall is closed nor the oil life updated even though the odometer is correct. We did not manually reset the oil life in the car, it appears the tech did reset it but fordpass isn't showing the updated status. Acknowledged the ‘recall’ status may take a mothership update but oil life should have followed the odo, shouldn’t it. Will keep an eye on the app for the next couple of days to see if it’s a glitch since it also applied the abs24.12.0 update to the car after i parked in the home garage or if it’s another anomaly, although it did update the odo and tire pressure so hhmmm… 🤔

With the most recent update of FordPass, I've noticed at least one change.

Previously, with the car locked and sitting for several days, undisturbed, I could open the app, down-swipe, and listen to the car update with Ford.

Now, I can't do that. I confirmed this last weekend for the OLM in-particular, both FordPass and https://www.ford.com/support/ (select login, upper-right), differed from the car. Things updated at the Ford site after driving the car.

Not a big deal. The car is always the ultimate source. And I will continue to experiment, such as not driving the car, but temporarily turning on Accessory Mode for a few minutes.

A topic we've discussed before, battery drain and current draws, I think might be one factor. Ford might have "cleaned-up" the app, making it more efficient with respect to updating with the car, while inducing some of the lags I'm referring to.

YMMV.

It’s the lag that sometimes causes the freak. Until it’s resolved acknowledging the behavior may assist another experiencing the same and save the added frustration from fixing something that aint broke (well it is but in reality it’s doing exactly as instructed or at least seems to be). Yeah, i’ll hold until the service visit is reported and the recall is cleared in the app before doing to much more. And yes, the mileage and the car overrule the app but the app is supposed to assist not complicate.

I'm not 100% I'm posting this in the correct place. Apologies if not.
My remaining oil life indicator went from around 20% to about 92%. The first oil change has not been done yet. Miles are only about 4k but I've had the Mustang for 8 months or so.
Has anyone experienced this before? Maybe a software update reset it?
Thanks -

Added: - I don't use the app.

Edit: it took about 24 hours before the ‘recall inspection’ was cleared in the app (to be expected) and about 30 hours before the oil life (100%) in the car was reflected in the app.
