Oil leak

Has anyone else had any problems with the valve cover gaskets leaking? I just have a little over 400 miles on it and when I got home from work today it was smoking and I found oil sitting right above the headers. This the first time this has happened.

Let us know how it works out and what the cause was. Obviously this is a poorly sealed/seated gasket, but is it a manufacturing defect or a one off defect? Simple replacement of the gasket should remedy this, I would think. Hopefully will be your only issue.

There've been at least two other threads of the same issue. In each case, the covers were removed with new gaskets and O-rings installed.

The covers themselves are plastic and tend to flex more under tension.

There are two series of seals. The first, runs the perimeter of the cover. The others are the O-rings around the spark plugs.

Too quick an installation or torquing the cover incorrectly can lead to problems being seen.

On the S550, it wasn't so much the above, but when they first started out, the bolts had a tendency to loosen.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. What I did was put a fresh sheet of cardboard under the car to trap stuff and let me know. So far so good. Fingers crossed. Toes too !

I took it to the dealership today, so hopefully I hear something on Monday.

I called the dealership yesterday and it needs a new valve cover gasket.
