I agree. Anyone who thinks the 10R80 is trash, should drive one a few times in Drag mode. Holy Bleeding Anus Batman! The shifts are nothing short of brutal. Fact is, you can't even get the clutch to the floor as fast as the 10R80 shifts!

Ask yourself why F1 racers have given up on manuals? Well? The truth is, it won't be long until even the vaunted GT will only be available in an automatic. I'm taking bets!

My last car (Grand Cherokee SRT) was the first automatic car I've ever owned. And from day 1 I could tell how much I missed having a manual transmission. No doubt the auto is superior in just about every way to the manual except in one important area ... fun! I've had my 6-speed for about seven months now and have yet to have an ounce of buyer's remorse over my decision. I didn't buy it to drag race. There are plenty of EVs that can smoke the finest Mustang off the line. We still have our Acura for daily stuff, but the Mustang is totally for the joy of driving.

My supercharged 2021 GT was like this with the stock Roush calibration. I had to have DRP Motorsports whip up a transmission tune for me so that I could drive around the city without a viking invasion if I wasn't WOT during shifts from 1-2 and 3-4 when in TRACK mode. Brutal indeed.

Thank goodness I'm not an F1 driver! I enjoy being back in a manual for the FUN factor.

No bets on the world going full automatic! You may be right. One of the jokes going around the Mustang club is that the best security system, to prevent car theft, is having a 6 speed. Most kids these days have no idea how to drive manual.

glad to hear you're enjoying the car. Same here, I've experienced some inconveniences (disconnecting Android Auto, Rev Match not working at certain parts of the day) but these are not deal breakers like I've experienced with other car brands(genesis, hyundai - suspension failure). I always had the car on sport or dragstrip mode but found my daily preferred is comfort steering with sport exhaust

You two have me beat save for age (84 here!). Having driven my well-tuned 2019 Ranger with the 10R80 for nearly 5 years, I wouldn't even think of getting a row-it-yourself tranny! Would I like to to have paddle shifters for my Eco-Boost? I said yes the first week or so, but once I figured out that Ford has outdone themselves developing the fuzzy logic for the Mustang's 10R80, I don't miss the ability to select my own.

If I had a wish, it would be a source of a larger intercooler. Although it has been in the 80s a couple of times since I bought my Eco-Boost, that is a far cry from 105° or more during the deep Summer here in Roswell, NM. A larger intercooler would allow (a bit more) for the added ambient. At least it certainly did for my Ranger's setup.

If you want to know how fast the 10R80 can shift, use Drag mode!! That 1-2 and 2-3 shifts will jar your teeth into believing!
Longevity and a Mustang! Love it!
