I have seen write ups about these issues on separate threads. I have seen mixed results from updates from different members. I have all the updates on board but still have random problems with both. The recirc problem is very frustrating for me. Are these something I need to report to Ford? Take my Mustang to the dealership? Anything they can do?

Ok, I read the manual. 🤔 There is a note:

Note: Recirculated air may turn off
automatically, or prevent you from switching
on in all air flow modes except MAX A/C to
reduce the risk of fogging. Recirculation may
also turn on and off automatically in various
air distribution control combinations to
improve heating or cooling efficiency.

That FEATURE sucks. Is there any way to force the recirculating air to remain on? My wife has breathing problems and needs to avoid exhaust. If my windows fog, I can turn on the defrost if it gets that bad. (I know defrost uses outside air. But it is my choice to control.)

HELP!!!!

I too am a big fan of the recirc when in traffic as I don't care to smell everyone else's exhaust... but I find that many cars turn this off at every start. Your only hope of changing this may be (big maybe) with forscan... if there even is a setting that can affect this (there may not be), and you can find it. Not sure if it's possible, but you may be able to set the "favorite" button to activate this... at least that makes setting it on easier.

I have noticed that recirc will only stay on with the Auto function off and A/C on. Any other combination will have it shut off after some time.

I don't use the "auto" function and my recirc goes off very often, and I've constantly opening the damn touch screen thing while driving, it's just few weeks and I already risked to rear end other cars two times because of it (the autobrake saved me), the other cars exhaust smell fills the inside in a matter of seconds (in traffic), more than my previous cars (maybe the ventilation is more efficient, or the filter isn't so good I dunno). More I live with this modern tech (nor that I had an old junk before.. it was a S550) and more I hate all this "we decide for you" idiocy, the S650 is a step down on multiple aspects than my "old" S550 that I'm regretting the "upgrade".

S650 ecoboost btw,

Are you sure it's off? The tick marks under "Auto" should be grayed out, if you have that off and AC ON, RECIRC should stay on. I think if you use any other function like heating or defrost it will kick off recirc though. Unless a very recent update changed the behavior that's how mine works (it's winter so I've had my AC off, and thus recirc keeps turning off on its own thanks Ford)

I agree though, just let me manage my own dam car Ford. I think they got a nudge from NHST to do the Auto off for recirc due to safety concerns - my 2023 Sonata actually had a blurb in its manual that "prolonged use of air recirculation can lead to drowsiness"

I'll drive home with AC ON this evening and see if recirc stays on like in the past. Maybe some overachiever changed the climate logic software.

30+ minutes, Recirc stayed on. AUTO mode was off and AC was on. Never turned off. I'll keep testing but to my knowledge as long as you keep the AC on, with auto off, recirc will stay on.

Did a test yesterday, and coincidentally it was the worst. AC on, no AUTO mode, and the recycling was turning off every 3 MINUTES (!).
I had the air conveyed to the windscreen (no anti-fog, just the convey) and the feet.
Now that I think, maybe if you chose the windscreen as air direction (and no center air-vent) there's a different "algorithm", turning it off after a certain amount of time according to the internal and external temperature.
I'll try again disabling the air directed to the windscreen.

The test didn't went well with this kind of weather (it was 12°C outside 20°C temp set inside). The moment i turned off the windscreen air direction, the glass got foggy in seconds :°D

Ye.. but we're discussing something else: the air recycling turning off itself. :)

Correct, if you have the air direction towards the windshield it will turn off circulate. I've seen that behavior. With either body or feet. AC ON recirc ON, it might shut recirc off once, but from then on once you turn recirc back on, it will stay on even through a power cycle.
