I have a few hobbies and I enjoy them all. The longest one to date has been amateur radio. I've always enjoyed shooting and fishing as I grew up (literally) in a sporting goods store. What I've never done, is be gung-ho about any of my hobbies. I do like cars, and I've actually been involved in Solo racing. Mechanically speaking, it is important to protect your investment; when things fall apart, it is time to fix whatever. For what it is worth, I don't park in the garage after driving through a rain storm, and then wipe everything down just because! That my friend would indeed be anal retention!

negative. That would be caring about the long term care of your cars finish. It's
much easier to get it clean if you keep it clean. You do you, but most of us try to keep the second most expensive posession in our lives looking good and running good all the time.
And besides, no one says wipe it down immediately after parking after having driven it in the rain. That's the best way to induce scratches. But wash it when you can and it's mostly clean until the next rain storm (if you have to drive in the rain). I have other cars to drive in bad weather. Keep it clean and then you can do temp clean up with some detail spray and a microfiber towel.

Well, I guess that means I'm gung-ho sharing my hobby then?

I would suggest that this section of the forum is probably not for you.

I haven't been able to find Armor All Brake Outlast Dust Repellent for quite awhile so I went to the Armor All contact webpage and asked if it was still made and their reply was that it had been discontinued.

I'm assuming the product you used was 303 Touchless Sealant?

Product Review: 303 Touchless Sealant – Ask a Pro Blog

This and similar products like Carpro Hydr02 and Gyeon Wet Coat are water activated, and water carried. For them to work best, the surface should clean, but still wet. To apply, clean the wheel as usual, while still wet mist 3 to 4 sprays onto the wheel surface, and a couple in the barrel as well. Then rinse the product off using a strong stream of water, be that from a hose or pressure washer. I highly recommend rinsing the wheel immediately after application, you risk leaving a residue if it's left to dry on the surface.

There are two benefits to this wet application method -

- You eliminate the need for a time-consuming spray and wipe towel application, especially on intricate wheel designs.

- You get coverage across the whole wheel and caliper surface without having to remove the wheel from the car. This is the key reason why these products are popular for wheels.

Do these products make a ceramic coating redundant. No, a coating will have far better durability, better withstand heat and provide meaningful protection rather than water beading. However, they do help make cleaning easier, and you will also be able to dry the wheel quicker when using a blower due to the hydrophobic properties it leaves behind.

A couple of application videos -

the sh*t is really good. It lasted 2 weeks prob longer. Very little dirt as i went to wash car after 2 wekes just now. I reapplied it in 5 mins.
*but I see now here I shouldnt wipe it off. I use water to spray it off. *Then wipe off the water??
It works great though wetting the wheels, then spray, then wipe. So..... but if i dont need to wipe at all and just water spray, apply c spray, then water again thats even better. 3 min and done, saving me a few more mins :-D

I'm not anal retentive about my vehicles, but I understand why other people are. Spending the second largest amount most folks will ever spend (houses usually cost more, but not always) especially when you're young, gives most folks a very warm feeling of accomplishment. This can be a driving force to take overly-good care of your investment. Until, that is, it gets its first dent!

One more point. If you're living and breathing day in and day out about a speck of dust on your ride, perhaps you should ask your shrink if you're OCD?
no one talked about a speck of dirt. Bye!

No need to wipe off the product, it was designed to be carried and activated with water. So, clean the wheel, and while still wet, spray with the product and rinse immediately. You can then dry the wheel with a towel or a blower/compressed air.

Forget the armorall. The 303 spray is the sh*t. See above long response on how to so easily use it.

It appears the best choice for you would be to avoid this particular section of these forums.

No problem at all, my pleasure.
I used it all over my car yesterday. The water beads were totally crazy. I'm curious to see how it goes for the next few days and weeks etc. Really easy to apply, literally 3 minutess all over call and wheels and spray with water off. dry with thick microf towel. Maybe this will replace ceramic coat? I dont know. we'll see. Even if I have to spary it on monthly it's way less than ceramic, and will look fresh all the time (Maybe!). .. Ceramic people often dont know you have to maintain.it . The maintain is not nearly as easy as using this. And my ceramiic on my last car did not look nearly as good a year later as it did fresh. I doubted it was even still on the car .

Hi
Will armorall break dust repellent keep dirt, not just break dust off?

https://www.motortrend.com/news/does-it-really-work-armor-all-brake-dust-repellent-tested/
Tia
Armorall - All it is - is a ceramic based coating. Like the other folks have said just ceramic coat the wheels and you will be good.

Also, if you have the time do the ceramic coating of your car yourself - time consuming but there's nothing magical about it - and you'll save yourself $1200 or more dollars ... Watch YouTube videos

You don't have to be anal-retentive to appreciate, respect and take care of your possessions. I'd say most vehicle owners baby their vehicles, whether it be a car, truck or horse buggy, it's something they appreciate, looks good and they want to take care of it. I believe how one takes care of their possessions says something about how they are as a person and human being.

I wash my car about once a month, sometimes twice a month if it is really dirty. She's my daily driver when I'm not on the bike. That being said, cleaning these wheels is a major PITA and takes the same amount of time as cleaning the rest of the car does. I tried soaping them down and blasting them off with the pressure washer with mixed results. I ended up taking a microfiber towel and getting into the nooks and crannies. I will probably invest in a wheel brush from Chemical Guys to do that from now on, as getting around the Brembos is also a PITA.
