A year ago i had my car fluid filmed its supposed to be better than undercoating anyways i guess some got in my fuel tank pressure sensor. They said because its not Fords fault that to replace it they will have to drop the gas tank and rear end and with parts and labor its going to cost me $2800 i googled it and it says anywhere from $200 to $500. Is there any Ford Techs on here that could tell me if im getting gouged . Thanks for replies

What problem are you experiencing related to fuel tank pressure? Has someone already troubleshot down to a specific area, or pointed out something obvious involving the tank, electrical and sensors?

What is the warranty given by the business who did the sealing? If it is determined they damaged the car, will they accept responsibility? Or, maybe now you are outside the warranty period?

For clarification, who is "they", quoting $2,800? The Ford dealer, a local tech or the shop that sealed the underside?

I can understand dropping the tank. The entire rear has to come out as well? Have they offered you a detailed quote? Labor rate per hour, amount of hours and parts?

Thanks.

So that's roughly 10 hours of labor, if a $150 per-hour rate.

I have not read of someone doing this to an S650.

In one S550 thread, the Member was quoted $2200 for a tank replacement, three or so years ago. In another, the individual removed the tank by taking off the exhaust and removing the driveshaft.

The Ford tech reference might very well call for rear cradle removal in the S650, but those who've done it realize the exhaust and driveshaft are the only items to come out.

At that $$$, I'd definitely check with another dealer.
