Update: Talked to the dealership tech about this yesterday.
  • Since the issues is happening only at pretty high speed, they obviously didn't attempt to replicate the issue.
  • At first the tech was telling me that all is normal and I had hit the governor limit (no, I said, my speedo is indicating well short of 250km/h [155 mph] and it keeps accelerating hard after the delayed shift)
  • Then he suggested it was the timing being retarded for a fraction of a second to soften the shift (no, power is being cut off entirely for a full second).
  • He finally seemed to get there was a problem but shrugged and said it's unlikely we'll be able to do anything about it because:
    • Dealers don't have access to tweak the shift points
    • Resetting the transmission would just make the car drive weird for a while and probably not fix the problem
    • If I provide a data log so they can see the issue happening, the best he could do would be to send it to Ford but then Ford would be unlikely to fix it because, he said, changes to the tune require government emissions re-certification, which costs "millions".
  • It seems my best hope on this one is for someone to unlock tuning capability at some point so the shift point RPM for that gear can be reduced a touch. 🤞
