A full tank of gas.
Half a pack of cigarettes
Sunglasses
Hit it.

(Many of you are probably too young to understand)

Seriously ... cash, credit cards, and a cell phone.

All of this is very interesting, and perhaps prudent. Me? I just carry my AAA card!
If I were in Canada all I would need is my credit card and my CAA card (your AAA) however I will be 10 hours away from home and in a different country so there are some unique challenges to extricating oneself from any major mechanical issues.

Add to the list:

1. Duct tape or equivalent
2. Zip ties, heavy duty size.
3. Multitool.

The tape and zip ties are useful for securing items that might get damaged or simply work their way loose.

After work today I'll compile many of the suggestions into a list in the OP and then we get to see if the Mustang needs to become the Tardis or not.

In all seriousness, if I’m road tripping in a car, I want a spare. Not a tire inflator, not a patch kit, I want a real spare tire. Not that I don’t want an inflator and good patch/plug kit - I have them, but I’ve actually had tire blowouts, and holed a tire on the tire edge.

I also tried to help some sad bmw driver who had ... well, a bmw. He holed his tire, the car had no jack, not tire, no inflator, no patch kit but it did have a bmw owner, who of course knew nothing about his car, whether it had a jack, tire, etc. I was in my Raptor, so I had a boatload of stuff including a compressor, which showed us he holed his tire with a sizable screw and air was spewing out it. So we had to source jack, lug wrench or sockets. It was a clown show. Finally the owner of the place we were visiting helped him over the finish line and took him to the local Walmart - the only tire place in about 40 miles.

Don’t be that guy.

That would be my initial go to. I have a Vevor 1.5T floor jack that I can take with me as well as torque wrench and 3T Jack stand (use these for my gf pilot so they are overkill for the Mustang).

The only real spare tire kit that I found that even mentioned "Will work with 20" rims" is this one from Automotive Authority.

2007-2025 Ford Mustang Performance Package Spare Wheel and Tire Kit – Automotive Authority

Not sure that would fit in the spare tire slot in the trunk or not. I will need to reach out to them to find out whether it is suitable for a 20" 35 sidewall.

I’m not able to address the sidewall question, but I’m sure there’s an online calculator somewhere, but I am able to say that the kit fits in the 2024 wheel well, jack, lug wrench and all. You have to move the inflator, but was able to shoehorn a plug kit in there.

Here are my front tires compared to the image of the spare on their site which is a 135/70R19
