Wish there was an easy way to fix this.
the ways to really fix this would be:
1. Ford adds MyColor cupholders to later S650s
2. someone 3D prints a custom cupholder for the S650
3. a better match is found than the Lincoln Corsair

the Lincoln Corsair cupholder seems to be a much better match for the Bronco, as shown in this forum, but i will be doing research into currently produced parts to find a better match if i can

Im willing to bet that some enterprising person will figure out Option #2 and make it plug and play. Like my Renegade Taillights on my S550. Hot swap and drive away. No complex wiring required.

i did some looking and this is what i found out about the cupholder situation

Fusion: No Matches - no ambient lit cupholders
Continental: No Matches - cupholders only offered in expensive assemblies
Navigator: No Matches - cupholders only offered in expensive assemblies
Ranger: No Matches - no ambient lit cupholders
Aviator: No Matches - cupholders only offered in expensive assemblies, rear ones might work but have the wrong mounting and no way to fix that
Explorer: No Matches - cupholders only offered as a sort of floor console insert
Escape: No Matches - there are ambient lit cupholders, but they are at too steep of an angle
Bronco: No Matches - no ambient lit cupholders
Maverick: No Matches - no ambient lit cupholders
Mach-E: No Matches - no ambient lit cupholders
Bronco Sport: No Matches - no ambient lit cupholders
Super Duty: No Matches - 2016-2022 only offer a whole $500 trim assembly, 2023+ has no ambient lit cupholders
Nautilus: No Matches - cupholders only offered in expensive assemblies

Mustang: GR3Z-6313562-BB $245
- more likely to be the right size since it is a Mustang part
- very expensive and may not fit due to the keyfob backup slot in it

Expedition: JL1Z-7813562-BA $110
- less likely to be the right size
- also has the keyfob backup slot
- used 2018-2021, 2022+ has no ambient lighting

Corsair: LJ7Z-7813562-BA $28
- current solution
- does not fit perfectly
- can also buy the light rings and holder fingers + bottoms on their own (LJ7Z-14A318-J and LJ7Z-7813562-AB front, LJ7Z-7813562-BB back)

F-150: ML3Z-1513562-BA $15
- cheap
- has keyfob backup slot
- has the alignment tabs on the cupholder instead of the console

I truly think the Ford engineers look to guys, like you, who have assessed an objective, analyzed, adapted and overcome. Then they patent that stuff and move forward. There was a dude who was building a AWD S550. Wanna bet the next iteration of the Mustang comes out with AWD?

I digress; even I admit to the fact I'm watching this thread with anticipatiion. You are spending the time, money, braincells and karma points on finding a soltuion and I, for one, salute you.

i compared the old cupholder from my Mustang to the one in my mom's 2022 F-150 and without tearing apart the center console to check them side by side (im 99% sure my mom would not want that), it seems like it will be a close match. Monday i will order the part, and i dont mind tossing $15 to the wind to find out the answer

i found an interesting quirk tonight. i dont know if this is exclusive to the automatic transmission, but in 6th gear there seems to be a premature fuel cutoff around 6950RPM/121MPH. its pretty jarring because 1st through 5th has no such thing, and when you're hitting those 7500RPM upshifts perfectly, it really throws you off

i was not able to test the cupholder i got today, started late and mainly focused on organizing all the electrical stuff i got over the past week. i also tried soldering for the first time and i think i did pretty well
S650 Mustang roket's Dark Horse - "Azureus" Project 1722732704309-4c

tested my soldering on the connector for this MyColor LED, tomorrow i will be replacing all the T taps i used last weekend with proper soldered connectors, and wiring in more colors than "everything is black except red because that is all Home Depot had". not sure if i will get around to flipping the LED on the lights from that ambient lighting kit i got around this weekend
S650 Mustang roket's Dark Horse - "Azureus" Project 1722732892741-bk

organized and prepared!

No dice. The F150 cup holder does not work. I'm glad I only spent 15 bucks on it. I guess the Lincoln one is the cup holder to use.

I actually want to figure out if this is something us non handy people can also do lol cause this definitely makes the night experience a little less dreary. Assuming it all matches with your Ambient Lighting?

Hey do you by chance have a layout of the front left shock/strut assembly? I believe I damaged the top assembly because I'm getting a squeaking/ creaking noise that is also causing what sounds like a rattle behind the firewall too when driving. I'm trying to figure out how the front left strut is set up for a DH with the HP. Lol the noise is annoying me.

converted my old hackjob of T taps into a series of proper wiring harnesses. also tested out de-soldering and re-soldering the little LED in the fiber optic light thing. ended up working perfectly, but i found a small issue with the resistor values. a guy named Ryan Gabaldon on YouTube said that 360 ohms for red and blue, with 300 ohms for green, makes the lights match up. i tried that, and it was always a noticeable tint of green/yellow to every color that used it. i then realized the MyColor lights have 3 resistors on them and measured them. red had 616 ohms, green had 784 ohms, and blue had 560 ohms. i re-wired the light with 620 ohms on red, 780 ohms on green, and 560 ohms on blue, and the colors matched up perfectly. who knew that using the same resistor values as Ford would lead to the same colors? will continue the lighting next weekend
