got back yesterday from a road trip to San Jose and back, and the Dark Horse is very good at road trips! better than the Mach 1 was! here's some details for the whole trip

total miles: ~1500
average mpg: 16.7 to 16.9
total drive time: ~23 hours
stopped for fuel: 6 times
total time stopped fueling up: 35 min

i mainly used a custom drive mode based on slippery mode with comfort steering, quiet exhaust, and calm cluster theme. adaptive cruise control did 90% of the actual driving work, until it got dark and started mistaking the "trucks max 55mph" signs as regular "55mph" signs that affect me. SYNC navigation took me on the expected route (AZ 101 -> I10 -> CA 210 -> I210 -> I5 -> CA 152 -> CA 101 -> CA 85 -> CA 87) and the same route back.

i have done this trip once before in 2022 with the Mach 1 using the exact same route, and the Dark Horse with its creature comforts made the trip easier. the parts i originally dreaded most (300 miles on I10 and 240 miles on I5) were much less dreadful with adaptive cruise control and lane centering than they were with normal cruise control and lane keeping.

i didnt even need to use the trunk, the back seats had enough space for my 28" duffel bag and 28" suitcase while not blocking my rear window.

obviously, 500hp is more than enough to pass anyone. even a Tesla Model Y that decided to try to race after going 5 under, or put distance on a suspicious Honda Accord that has been following right behind you for an hour.

overall, i would give it a 7.5/10. what would make it better is massage seats, BlueCruise, and a larger fuel tank

also, i want to say thank you to 95% of California drivers that know to get over when someone faster is approaching from behind. also the area around LA is a free-for-all traffic nightmare

Kinda surprised you only hit 17 mpg on such a long road trip. I’ve driven from the bay to LA multiple times and have managed to maintain a 20-30 mpg each time even with the supercharger on it

i was usually cruising 85mph. plus, that was the estimate given by the general fuel economy gauge. i didnt think to actually set up a trip to track it properly

i finally saw a Shelby Super Snake and i honestly think its a total dud. only possibly worthwhile thing on it is the upgraded brake rotors and the idea of a widebody kit, otherwise you are paying insane amounts for a supercharged GT that makes barely more power than the Ford Performance supercharger with a warranty. interior is barely remarkable and the wheels have a terrible spoke design. not worth $160,000 at all

I like the reverse lamp thing but one one picture I saw color difference with the rear lights which I didn't like. Let me know if it's different in real life, cause on what I saw on the picture, the difference was huge.

just got done installing the marker lights, reflector lights, and 4th brake + reverse light. i installed the smoked tail lights jan 31st. @RaceRedder the 4th brake light seems to match the brake lights, both factory and AutoAddictUSA's.

@Form Lighting these lights look super sharp. and thanks @LethalPerformance for the quick shipping. i will definitely be posting some pictures in my favorite parking garage this weekend. the Azureus color scheme of black and blue is really coming along, inspired by the blue poison dart frog (dendrobates tictorius azureus)

i decided just for fun to see what my Mustang is valued at for trade in. its worth $44k according to KBB, even without mods. it makes sense considering the mods and the fact is has over 25,000 miles, but it feels like a bit of a punch to the gut considering the MSRP was $71,465 (but i got it for $70,505 thanks to price protection). just to be clear, though, i have no intention of selling or trading it in unless i am absolutely forced to as a last resort

i was considering upgrading my dashcam to the A-329 Pro for the 4k60 front camera, and that lead me down a rabbit hole of ideas that landed at this:
custom 3D printed IPMA camera shroud that has space for the camera, a holder for 2x 4TB NVME SSDs, and has 4 Noctua fans providing quiet active cooling. partially inspired by the FITCAMX products. the SSDs will be Samsung 990 Pros, and the fans Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX. the new shroud will be printed out of polycarbonate.
it's gonna be an expensive project, but i think the end result will be well worth it
