Interested to hear comparison between S650 and S550 stock GT clutches, from the owners.

I was not a fan of the clutch feel of the S650. I liked the feel of my clutch from my 2008 much better. I changed my stock spring to an aftermarket steeda clutch spring (35 lbs.) and it made a huge improvement.

I've driven both many times. S650 has a smoother actuation in my opinion.

I tried the Steeda spring but noticed that the clutch pedeal didn't fully return. Sometimes it did and other times it was 1/2" short.

I noticed that the clutch pedal broke in after a year of ownership. It feels very good now. In the beginning it was slow popping back up, almost throwing me off when shifting fast. Now it’s exactly how it should work. It’s as good as what my ‘07 Mustang had. It grabs well, you can get going without adding gas, just like a proper good clutch should.

I just don’t like the engagement point. It’s too high in the travel of the pedal on the S650. I liked the deeper engagement on the S550 so you could actually modulate the engagement better. I pulled the OEM spring and like the feel a bit better but it sucks more in traffic. I ordered the Steeda spring. Hoping that works better .

I think the S650 clutch engagement is perfect. This is my third Mustang and totally happy with it.
Nothing worse than a clutch that engages 3 inches from the floor.
My $.02 worth

Mainly got the spring as i just had hip surgery on the left one and figured it would be easier to drive it in the future too. Haven’t driven my car in a month 😢 and gonna be probably at least another two.

I find it functional but its engagement point feels erratic sometimes and on the high side modulating it is finikey.
Yup. This is my gripe. My 16 GT PP was great. Wish they didn’t change it.
