I'm an old fart, but I love the screens. Maybe because I work on one most days so it's a comfortable interface for me. I don't find them distracting or difficult to use at all, once I learned where everything was. For the record I have the two-screen setup, which I much prefer over the single "bent" version... something about that single screen never sat well with me. Rather than a gentle curve following a radius, it looks like it was bent in the middle over the edge of a workbench LOL. I've made good use of the gap by placing my magnetic phone holder there.

I say do away with the screens, and make cars as they were. Maybe have chips for different driving modes with alphabetized buttons on the center of the steering wheel a la Speed Racer's fabulous Mach 5, which can be programmed with a chip. All you have to do is press a button and voila, you're in the driving mode you want. As for phones, just use the one in your pocket. No muss, no fuss. Let's just say you don't need a symphony to Rock & Roll.

I have had no problems with the screens, but I really wish there was a steering wheel option to switch between FM radio and CarPlay.... just my 2cents

possibly the most ignorant and careless thing you’ve ever posted, without any knowledge of who is on the other end of your accusation. Given my employment history and clearance status, there are at least 2 - and I think it may be 3 now - agencies who very much care about ‘what I’m doing’.

Stop being a ... what do you folks call it - tosser? I’m not current on failed empire slang, but whatever. just stop being the forum nut hugger.

Either way, the information the vehicle has on board should belong to the owner who should have sole dominion over it.
Don't big yourself up. My point was a general one about car owners. You don't wear your clearance badge on here because nobody cares on a car forum!

Don't agree about the latter - law enforcement should be allowed to access the data with court authority.

After 10 months now love the screen. No problems with my 1000 song play list from my old ipod. Yes the screen up-dates but so do my phones, tablets, notebooks and computer towers - as they have been for years and they cause glitches too. Really pi$$ed with your mustang screen - what will your next car be, an old AMC pacer?

Check, now just need the functions.

A) Powerful jacks to lift car for maintenance, or to jump a gorge. B) High traction bullet proof treads which add tremendous HPs to all tires. Can climb mountains. C) Rotary saws just in case you want to take a shortcut through the woods. D) Automatic roof which is waterproof and bulletproof. E) Infrared head lights to see at night. F) Turns car into a submarine so you can drive underwater. G) Homing robot bird to send out messages or for help. When in 4th grade we'd run home to watch this cartoon.

Trixie, Chim Chim, Spridle, Pops and X but only the original cartoon. Had no idea at the time it was an import.

Just read about the series on Wikipedia. Speedies original Japanese name was Go Mifune, and Pops company was Mifune Motors. I always wondered what the G was for in his shirt. They used Mifune to pay Homage to Japan's greatest actor Toshiro Mifune. Peter Fernandez did lots of voice overs for the American version. Was a great cartoon. I believe Ultra Man came on after Speed Racer.

I guess I’m the opposite of some of you… after staring at 2 huge screens all the day the last thing I want to see in my car is more screens lol
You got that right. I want to hear my music thumping, and cherry bombs thundering.

key word here "court authority"

Better thread title may have been "Information sharing...Love/Hate"
There's really two topics in one here. Thank You for the article though Alan. I am against data sharing with any outside entity. I'm surely not getting any sort of safe driver discount when the "loud car" rolls down the driveway.

Find something more worthwhile to worry about! I'm quite certain even your government doesn't care two hoots about you or what you are doing.

It never crosses my mind and evidence over my lifetime so far suggests that is a reasonable stance to take.

The irony of people in the 'land of the free' worrying about their freedom!
Being concerned about our freedom and vigilant to notice when it’s threatened is why we still have it. If only citizens around the world had the same backbone to speak out and stand up against threats to freedom no matter how big or insignificant those threats appear.
