This is fantastic news.

basically the
The guy who designed the 2020 gt 500 and the s650 pointed out how the grille on newer Shelby models looks like a ram truck and now I can't unsee it.
Weird. don’t see it.

edit: after looking at the different ram grilles, there is a resemblance. It seems like ram started incorporating the Shelby look around 2021 in the Trx models and then expanded. Maybe both of them took cues from Fords raptor.

Very interesting video. I love the analogy of the small rearview mirror being the past, and the much larger windshield being the future.

Guys if you aren’t familiar with the concept of a money grab, this is one.

* minimal development
* no chassis changes or investment in anything besides marketing
* off the shelf supercharger and tune from whipple already smog approved
* a few custom decals and appearance changes to draw in low information buyers that are interested in the Shelby name

mite not a ram thing. Ford and dodge stole it from each other. Shelby has been using it for about as long as dodge has.
I think he's talking about those 'kidneys' on the sides of the grill

But almost all cars are adopting the same front end look it seems like

the only bmw style “kidneys I see are on the lower end where dogs usually go. But that’s been a thing since forever. Not a dodge thing. The grille on thst charger is straight up aping the Shelby though. The other grilles have variation. That’s a copy. But at least they painted the thing. It looks better actually.

After going down the grille rabbit hole, there doesn’t seem to much originality anywhere. Interesting. Maybe only bmw and Lexus have really taken daring steps with their attempts at reinventing grillle design.

Any details on what exactly was done to the suspension? I read that the suspension has been worked I er. But “jri suspension” doesn’t say much.

Hopefully it’s not just another supercharged GT with stickers with steeds springs or something.

edit: yep. It breaks down like so:

What matters:
Supercharger
Brakes

what kinda matters:
Lowering springs
Shifter

other stuff:
Hood
Ducktail spoiler
Seats

Basically, you can build this yourself cheaper. But you get a warranty with this snd you get to say you have a Shelby.

value proposition is up to tje individual.

personally, I’m happy and disappointed. The Mustang needs a shot in the arm. This is a pretty nice car. But way way too expensive for what it is.

I’m pretty happy with the super snake. Looks like they went out in a proper effort with that one after phoning it in for years. But this… it’s a nice car. But doesn’t scream “shelby” might as well be a Hennessy, or rtr.

would love to see Shelby branch out and hot rod enouch cars to afford some aerospace engineers to do serious enhancements. Or at least contract out, put through a temporary assembly line at Ford until production numbers are met, and get a factory VIN. If you’re going to charge thst kind of money, make it worthwhile.

Per the website:
• Front and rear lowering springs
• Front and rear sway bars
For the GT350R:
• Fully-adjustable, JRI race struts and shocks with remote reservoir
• Optimized chassis stiffening
I'd imagine the R has more customization, but I'd bet good money you can just get a normal GT + whipple + steeda/bmr suspension package and outperform the base GT350 for probably tens of thousands less. With the GT350R, that'll have the advantage due to the carbon fiber parts making the car lighter, but even then you're talking about single digit seconds i'd bet and not tens of thousands worth more of performance.

The crazy thing is people will buy it. 😂

I wish they continued putting together Cobras but I get it. Take a Mustang GT with a whipple kit, put some suspension on it, change the bumpers/hood, then add your 20k badge on it for some resell value.

only 20k? thats pretty generous. i dont think they are upfitting even the nice GTs. they are just taking some 401A with the performance pack and putting random stuff on it. 60k vehicle with maybe 15k-20k of mods that they probably get at a discount too. more likely than not, they are making a $30k profit for the GT350, and $80k profit on the super snake
