While I have not been on a race track, it should be possible to do 0-60 with a single shift on a manual transmission. No lift shift should make it possible to make the shift nearly as fast as an automatic. It would be a matter of perfecting the process by practicing it. I suspect Ford may have put some restrictions on engine operation during break-in because you shouldn't exceed about 3/4 of the ability of the engine during break-in. Zero to 60 is something most people don't do often so an automatic might do it much better than a human. We will know more once people put more miles on their cars.
If you favor drag racing, the A10 might be the better option. If you favor road racing, a manual allows you to plan your gear however a paddle shifter could allow much the same. I am not going to say which is better because that is unique to each person.
I know this is a very old post.
If your going to Drag Race your Mustang be sure your Gas Tank is almost empty to save some weight

Heck. My wife's ten speed 3.55 axle beats my daughter's six speed around town and holeshot all day. But I beat them both with my GT 300-A1. I add the one for my Whipple. We by manuals to act like we're the starring in Bullitt. People have been drag racing with automatics for many years. I laughed when I heard they favored the cast iron two speed Chevy Powerglide.

Years ago I raced an 8 second car with a powerglide... only two speeds... fast and FASTER!

Slip and slide power glide. Replaced one in my 63 Impala SS, and it didn't weigh much. Did it by myself.

If my Eco-Boost is an example, here is what I'd do. Buy some decent tires for the beast.

I normally drive with the Sport mode fully activates. I turn off the traction and stability controls, steering on Sport, no AES, etc. It only takes about 1/3 throttle to break loose the tires. At full throttle, all it does is fishtail much to my distain.

I've never owned a set of Continental tires before, and I can safely say, I'll never buy anything with their name on it (nor have I)! In one word... Lousy!

Which ones? Conti Extreme Contact Sports will easily handle all an Eco will give it.

I think Mustangs have become so complicated these days. Someone should write a book called S650 Mustangs for Dummies. Covers Ecoboost, GT and Dark Horse. đŸ˜đŸ˜‡đŸ‘đŸŒđŸ‘đŸŒđŸ‘đŸŒđŸ‘đŸŒđŸ‘đŸŒ

The tires on the car are OEM ProContacts. TireRack average rating is about 2.5 (out of 5). Their rated tread life is an "A" which speaks volumes about their ability to stay stuck to the pavement. I'll wear them out soon, and switch to a set of decent Michelins.

Actually one of the items on my manual list is the ability to ‘bounce’ out of a hole.

Is this topic still going? lol

I owned an A10 PP1 S550 for a few years....

My current car has over 60hp more then my A10 car did stock.....even with 60 more hp I think the majority of races my old A10 car would have beat my current car....

I believe it was one of the top Ford Performance guys who said the GT500 was all about the ultimate numbers while the GT350 was all about the ultimate experience.....

I could care less about the numbers....otherwise Id buy a Tesla Plaid which you can now pick up in the 60s with not much mileage ....or an A10 car and whipple it ....

Manual transmission guys- stop caring about the numbers and go drive your car and have fun

Maybe I should find someone who wants to race for pinks. Could save a huge wad of cash on a new Mustang. Or I could trade it for a CT4 V Black wing, which will still smoke a Mustang 5.0 and Dark Horse. Anyone around the FTW area in March/April?

No problemoe. I'll use my 6-Speed GT peckerwood ghetto 300a. You're going to need a nice set of strong binoCulos to see me once I rocket past you in 2nd. I should loan in to Musk. He'd surely find a way to rig it up so I could enjoy the stratosphere. 😇

Of course the auto is faster. No one is arguing that. If ultimate speed is your thing, buy an auto or a EV. Comparing manual Mustangs, I don't think the S650 is bad. Certainly the DH isn't. If you look at the 1 foot figure (which most professional outfits use these days) in that video, he did a 4.1s.
I'll happily sacrifice half a second 0-60 for the fun of having a manual. Of course each to their own. Buy what you like and enjoy.
What you might also see is people posting crappy GT 0-60s in base cars. Those have skinny crappy tyres so fix that for a start.
i have a base gt first thing i did was to throw some wider tires on it. Those base tires are touring style and not anywhere near wide enough for the power the 4th gen coyote and the mt82 can throw down. Once i did that and realized this isn't grampas 6 speed. I got way better also the gears are long use the lift less shifting and don't be afraid to rev the engine. The factory shifter and clutch are ok but i would recommend a short throw and better clutch.
