My Shaker 1000 is 12 years old and had some short comings. The system was Ok but the lack of sound deadening in even a premium GT made it sound like an echco chamber. I ended up redoing the interior and trunk area with Second Skin. Night and day difference. Anyone up grading their system without sound reading is missing much. Mustangs are not noted with great sound and its no wonder with how they are like a tin can made for perfomance.
I'm taking note of this. Any tips on adding second skin? Did you avoid paneling and just do the roof or did you apply everywhere? Not really familiar with the stuff

I wouldn’t say I am an audiophile but definitely can make out small differences in sound systems and have done a good bit of home theater work. I test drove a 2022 mustang and tested out the B&O system in that and it definitely sounds good but don’t knock your socks off. My dad just got a 2022 Ram 1500 Limited with their 19 speaker Harmon Kardon system, now that is something that was very impressive and also drove in a Charger (don’t shoot me) with the same system didn’t sound as good as in the truck but still better then the B&O on the mustang so hoping for the upgrades to be better but personally I’d be happy with what we have currently

I did the whole trunk including the spare tire well. Removed the rear seat area including everything past the B pillar. You use both products. One is a foil base and then a foam topper. Before I did this you couldn't even hold a normal conversation while driving on expressways. Secondskin audio has a website. The only disadvantage is it was a lot of work and it does add weight. It might not be good for one that tracks or drags.

I don't think anyone options for the B&O audio system, most want the other options in the package it comes in.

I have it on a few vehicles including my 2018 F150. It is barely ok IMO. It was one of the first things I upgraded.

I don't plan on touching it in the Mustang as I don't plan on listening to the radio much in it.

Hey man which second skin product did you use?
There's the damplifier deadening mats, luxury liner pro mlv+foam, and overkill closed cell foam. I've researched them a little but still not entirely sure the use case for each product. I'm just looking to cut down on road/tire noise. Thanks

I used Damplifier Pro for the base then Luxury Liner Pro. I did this on my 2011. The thing had almost zero deadening and sounded like a tin can. I found also that tires can really add to NVH. My 24 seems so much better with the improved deadening Ford has done. I am not planning on doing that. Another thing as some tires wear down they can get more noisy.

Sweet. Thanks for the pics. I'll have to do that as well to my 2013. It does indeed sound like a tin can.

The more you do the quieter things will get but it does add to the weight. After I finished with the part I did I figured 100lbs. I have the Shaker 1000 with the sub and was much improved.

I've never liked any factory installed ever. The ELS on my 2010 Acura came close, but not quite there. If I had a choice I would prefer to order the car with no system and install my own.

As far as the B&O is concerned, I plan to gut out the amp, sub, and all the drivers except the A-Pillar tweeters and center dash. Install a 6-channel amp and DM-810 processor that I took out from my previous car, new drivers, and custom sub enclosure with dual 10" subs. Test and calibrate with REW.
I test drove a Dodge Charger 392, Hemi , it had 18 speakers. Harmon Cardin, and it sounded crystal clear. It sounded great.

Agreed. Everyone has different tastes of how they like their music, and many are listening for different things. For example, IMO a good system has decent bass... as if you were at an actual concert. Whereas the next guy is fine with 0 bass at all, something you can find out of an old AM radio.

Bose often performs well enough, at least for me. Off the cuff I would assume that a Burmeister system would produce better sound. Harman Kardon is another that I would have good things to say about.
I test drove a 2023 Dodge Challenger. It had the 18 speaker Harmon Kardon system & it was excellent.
