Now that we have our orders officially in, and contracts signed, time to think about various accessories to get ready, specifically a spare tyre.

Here's one solution.

Is it safe to assume the front S650 Brembo calipers are the same as the Brembos fitted on the S550?
(And therefore clearance with this spare isn't an issue.)

I just bought a Nealey tire repair kit, electric car jack and electric impact driver, and electric air pump. Still cheaper than the spare and you don't have to change tires.

Once I pick up a 6 inch long, half inch pipe nipple that must have come off a plumbing truck. A patch kit wouldn't have done much good but I had a spare that I used. If I didn't have the spare it would have been wait for triple A.

Not sure, Stevie pointed out in my "whats the same" post that the disc diameters have increased 10mm Front (390 vs 380) and 25mm rear (355 vs 330)

OK, noted.
It's really the depth that is the issue.
I was going to get one of these before the sale ends, but might put the brakes  on that idea until we have confirmation they fit!

The front discs are 2mm thicker and the rear are 3mm thicker.

Rear calipers are a different size as well.

Reviving this old thread. Anyone had any more thoughts on getting a spare for our S650's now that they are hitting our shores?

Automotive Authority has a "contact us" page where you can ask about shipping to your location. I don't know if they do, or if it is a cost-effective option for you. They claim to use a lightweight alloy, but any added weight will have an impact on long-term fuel economy.

Thanks. It seems there are solutions already that work with the new GT's and Dark Horses. Pretty expensive, and it doesnt seem like those guys want to ship to my house. Might need to use some sort of forwarding service but that makes it even more expensive. I'm hoping MustangMotorsport or some other company in Australia will have a local solution soon.

Hi guys. Yes, would be great to see where available, Ford dealers did have them for the S550 as I bought one for mine for about $650 back then

Next time I have a chat to my dealer I'll find out if they can get one for the new GT's and DH's.

What's the difference to S550.

I dont know. They might be identical but I want to be sure of that before buying one. I also want to know that it will fit in the wheel well.

I have bikes, a Raptor and a wife. it’s all fun and games until the wife calls with “hey, I’ve got this tire thingy on my dash, is that bad?”

Fortunately she was only about 10 miles from home. Best guess: She ran over a board with a nail sticking up, flattening her 21” tire in about 3-4 minutes. I rolled out to get her straight in the Rap. I swapped her tire for the donut and got her home- total time: about 75 minutes door to door.

Found the hole in the tire, plugged it and it held. She needed new tires anyway and got them 2 or 3 weeks later.

Looking hard at this AA option.
