This obviously needs pointing out, but this particular spare wheel topic is in the Australia local section.

I dont know. They might be identical but I want to be sure of that before buying one. I also want to know that it will fit in the wheel well.
Might be worth phoning Pony Parts (Qld) because they sell the spare wheels and they may be able to confirm for you.

I have bikes, a Raptor and a wife. it’s all fun and games until the wife calls with “hey, I’ve got this tire thingy on my dash, is that bad?”

Fortunately she was only about 10 miles from home. Best guess: She ran over a board with a nail sticking up, flattening her 21” tire in about 3-4 minutes. I rolled out to get her straight in the Rap. I swapped her tire for the donut and got her home- total time: about 75 minutes door to door.

Found the hole in the tire, plugged it and it held. She needed new tires anyway and got them 2 or 3 weeks later.

Looking hard at this AA option.
Yeah that AA option does look good. I like that its a reasonably light wheel and they specifically mention the new Mustangs GT's and DH. Just going to be really expensive to get here.

Not a bad idea.

I have spoken with Alan at Pony Parts regarding a spare wheel kit.
I specifically asked for fitment on a dark horse.
He has recommended the 20" option and that they have not had any issues with fitting to a S650.
He also said that the 20" DrivaSava Spare Wheel Solution clears the brakes on a GT500, so should not have an issue on a dark horse.

Being a 20" rim gives it more room to clear the calipers and he advised that although the wheel is a 20", the lower profile of the tyre gives it the same rolling diameter as the OEM 19" wheel and it will still fit into the factory wheel well in the boot.

I double checked this myself, as I would like to get a close rolling diameter considering the torsen diff.
Below are the measurements for anyone who is interested and comparison to the other common 19" option from others in the market (which may or may not clear the calipers..?).

I have gone ahead and purchased the 20" DrivaSava, as it appears to be the best solution and there is currently a sale on which is a bonus.

Rolling Diameters:

Factory OEM wheel

Rear: 275/40R19 - 703mm

DrivaSava
20"
155/60R20 - 694mm (1.1% Difference to factory front & 1.2% Difference to factory rear)

19"
155/70R19 - 700mm (1.86% Difference to factory front & 1% Difference to factory rear)

Other 19" options in the market
19"
135/70R19 - 672mm (2.3% Difference to factory front & 4.6% Difference to factory rear)

Exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for posting this.
Obtaining a spare was my #1 priority.

I did the math, and assume the "Other" with RD of 672mm is the 135/70R19 spare from MyStangMods?

As a potential new customer for MSM, I'm not impressed.
I used the Contact Us form on their website asking about their spare (after seeing pictures of their new GT being posted), so they can obviously try the product on their own vehicle.
I received the automatic SMS saying "A member of our team will reach out to you soon".
That was 16 days ago, and nothing since.

Being an extra 6mm in diameter, I'd be concerned the Pony Parts 155/60R20 spare fits in the wheel well.
Considering they warn the 19" spare may need some help.

That's fine, but what about getting the bastard out... after the liquid/lube has evaporated/dried out?
This is a valid concern. Something I've wondered about as well. And if it doesnt fit, will they take it back and refund?

Yes, I think I might wait until I have my vehicle, and drive it to either the Gold or Sunny Coast to try out. It's probably not a drama, but.

I've noticed Pony Parts seem to have year-round sales on these spares.
Back when I originally started this topic, it was "Spring-Summer Special".

Edit: "Spring-Summer" special, not just "Summer"

I think I might wait a little as well and see what other peoples experience is like. I'm in WA, so no option to drive there and try it out myself.

That's great info mate..
I bought a spare for my 2016 back then from Ford Australia, but I called my dealer about my new 2024 spare, but they had no idea yet..

The 135/70R19 is what the majority of others appear to be selling.
MyStangMods, Mustang Motorsport & Herrod.
I am not sure if this this will clear the larger brakes on a S650..?
Even if it does, I prefer the DriveSava option as its a closer match to the rolling diameter of the factory wheels.

I did notice the DriveSava states it may be a tight fit, however I figured their 20" is actually 6mm smaller in diameter than their 19" option, so I'm hopeful that will make a (very) slight difference to fitting it in the wheel well.
Also, I figured no need to pump the spare to max psi, so could let a slight amount of air out if it needs a couple more mm to fit in & out.

Being that the 20" is the only one I have confirmation on clearing the calipers & that its is the closest rolling diameter to the factory wheels, I feel this is the best solution.

I did ask Alan at Pony Parts if I can return it if it doesn't fit and he said that's not a problem, but he doesn't see there being an issue.

I've opened my eyes now, had another look at my handwritten notes, and had a 2nd cup of coffee!
My brain (?) was telling me the 20" was 6mm larger... bad data from the MLU (Male Logic Unit), but as you correctly point out, it's the other way around. :like:

Great to hear PP will accept a return.

I've just ordered the 20" DriveSava spare from Pony Parts as well.
https://www.ponyparts.design/20-drivesava-mustang-spare-wheel-new-product-has-a
It certainly appears to be the best option.

Spoke to the office at Coolum yesterday, and it's just an office, with stock warehoused at the Gold Coast location. Can't be bothered with the 2+ hour return trip and tolls, so getting it delivered.

Highest priority pre-delivery must-do box now ticked!

Thanks @Flamma3 for the heads up on this 20" variant. :like:

The Gold Coast house where they have the wheels had a couple of nice old Mustangs when I dropped in to them in 2018.
