It sucks because I work weekends but it's the only time to race safely
There's never a time to hit 150mph on a public highway safely. But there's considerably better times than others for sure lol. I watch a fair amount of 1320video texas street footage on YT, and some of those guys have 100% been arrested and taken to jail that night šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Concur. As fun as it is I can’t condone street racing. Should be kept on the track where innocent parties don’t have to pay the price for mistakes or accidents

I'd encourage everyone to review the laws in their state. In many, once you're 25 mph, 40 kmh over the posted limit, court, jail, impounding of vehicle, license suspension, become additional factors. Every area will be different. Talking to a local LEO, they had discretion below a certain speed. Once above a mark, they had no choice: maximum write-ups, fines, penalties, etc. In my state, any records involving these activities remain public (see employers. see insurance.) for seven years.

Regarding wildlife, we're coming into the Fall rut. It'll be location-specific, but many animals of all kinds in my area, their regular patterns change. Animals I often don't see are sometimes present where I don't expect. If encountering an animal, there'll be some quick mental math. Smaller animals, it's often best to hit; swerving to avoid runs the risk of running off the road, rollover, crashing into others, etc. Larger, tall animals, you're screwed either way: the animal could clear the hood and come through the windshield, or you swerve, with the effects mentioned before.

YMMV.

Edit,

Related to the subjects being discussed, take stock of your digital footprint, what you're posting and where. Vehicles, locational references, voices, digital tags, etc. Once it's on the Internet, you can never get it back. Insurance, legal proceedings, warranties, personal scores, etc. Not trying to wind anyone up, scare anyone, or shake my finger. People make a career out of finding who other people are. Often, it's not incredibly difficult. It's in your own best interest to keep these things under your control.

That would be the people on the other side of the road in that video you posted.

And that’s the problem lol

even if you guys are ā€œshutting the roads downā€ or doing it in deserted areas, you still are a nuisance for the police, EMTs, and fire departments that have to respond to the inevitable accident waiting to happen

oh yeah you’re also once of the reasons insurance rates are so high. And one of the reasons speed limiter nannies exist in the first place lol. I’m glad yours appears to be set abnormally low. You’re not responsible

I hope they put you all in jail and crush all of those cars before anyone gets injured. Take it to the drag strip if you want to race. Or an air strip with the owners permission.

Yeah, out of the gate these cars are fast. You basically can't use the power on most roads. But it's there, be safe. I was young once, no fear. Our fast cars were scary at 110 mph! I got older and had a M5 140 mph was easy. My point is at those speeds your done. Thankfully I got lucky. Was different. I daily my car, the distraction that I see every day has made me be a very cautious driver.

Law enforcement is very aware of what people do In those areas. They don't have a problem with it. Some even participate in their own personal vehicles

Probably not going to happen ever. But there is always a possibility. Everyone knows that.

If OP thinks a concrete barrier is going to stop a car going 150 to 160 mph… just umm ok

and yes we all have the right to be upset because if you do crash it drives up all of our insurance rates

Take it to the track …. Trust me when I say it’s not worth it … I’ve seen what can happen

I know exactly what you’re talking about.
https://www.chron.com/news/slideshow/fatal-drag-race-in-maryland-26696.php

This happened not far from where I grew up. Every Friday night in the summer, sometimes Saturday and just like you said, local LE were frequenters of this event. More than once, agencies were ā€œbadgedā€ away. Racing would resume 10-15 minutes later. People would trailer cars here - fully tubbed, slicks. It was a ā€œtakeoverā€ before the term ā€œtakeoverā€ was a thing.

There were wipeouts now and again, but for decades there were no ā€œseriousā€ injuries. There were wreckers to scoop up wadded cars. But, when there are fatalities, particularly innocent parties, someone’s getting hooked for it.

I’m not suggesting anything about OP’s activity here, I’m only posting this to suggest to think first, before you let loose. Advice to take it to the track is on point, as that’s just a better venue all around.
