Having hot days in Florida! came back to car after work and a piece of steering wheel sitting on the seat, gonna just glue it just wondering if anyone else had this happen, it broke so symmetrically I thought it was a clip in piece, but it’s not. Car has almost 20k on it

Likely a defective component. I'm sure the dealership will take care of you.

I will say, that's also the reason I went with ceramic tint on the windows all the way around.

Gonna guess it's the metal expanding by a greater amount than the plastic, forcing it to break.

Looks like the car was sitting with the Sun bearing down on that spot and the seat? If so, maybe get a Sun shade or try parking in a different orientation.

What Road pilot and Skye said! Get tint and a silver colored insulated windshield blanket to keep interior heat down!

You won't really need any insulated blanket if you get a good ceramic tint. The Geoshield Apex Ultra I had installed rejects 99% of UV, 95%+ of IR, and up to 70% of solar energy.

Yeah I have ceramic tint all the way around, I’ll see what dealer say, but if not glue should work, just hope rest of the carbon looking plastic doesn’t do this, cars not full year old yet

That sucks but at least its just some less obvious plastic trim. Hopefully warranty will find that a quick fix. I also gotta say, that flat pony still hasn’t grown on me.

Yeah, it's fugly. I've thought about color matching it with vinyl but I'm scared it would draw even more attention to it's ugliness

That is a biggy for Ford, has been for the last 25yrs. The quality of the plastics are atrocious. I mean really how much more can it be to invest in a tad better quality of plastics.
I remember my '07 Mustang -- plastic parts were absolutely fine.

Now, as some people mentioned, you get nasty scratches on the door plastic speaker covers from just brushing against them with your feet. Mine look like I took sandpaper and deliberately tried to file it down lol. I've never had that happen before, it's like the black dye is not even mixed in with the plastic, it's just sray-painted? All plastic parts feel cheap, brittle.

This steering wheel also looks so cheaply-made! That's why I got a cover immediately for mine. I miss the days where a steering wheel was just a piece of hard plastic, was that so hard?

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.
