Are there concerns with super charging the convertible?
I've read that you may need to stiffen the body?

Doesn't the vert already have a stiffer body than the coupes, 'cause of the no top thing?

Since the vert weights approx 180 bs more than the hardtop, Ford attached a rear subframe to help stiffen the body.

For optimum results, the braces off of the performance version will help. That includes, the strut brace, upper K brace, firewall reinforcement piece, and lower K brace. All are available from Ford Dealers.

You may want to add a Steeda lower bar (as I did) for even more stiffening.

It has the performance package so does that mean to maybe add the one you mention?

Hello Gene3

If your vert has the performance package, you have all the reinforcements from the factory! Cool!

You can still add the Steeda 2-point lower bar for even more stiffness. If you race your vert, you may want to consider their 4 point (more weight but even more stiffness).

Since you have to remove the top strut bar since it will not clear the supercharger, adding one of the above Steeda braces would be advantageous.

BTW...I do not receive any type of compensation from Steeda, but TJ from Steeda monitors this forum and can provide good advice.

Do you think adjustable motor mounts would allow for the strut brace to fit above the whipple?

I am not qualified to answer that question. If you drop the engine too low, it could affect the drive train as the angle from the engine to the main drive shaft would be less than optimal.

I have Steeda's mounts lowered 1/2" and my dark horse strut brace isn't even close to fitting.
