Here's an interesting tidbit of information that I received from my Dealer, when I sat down with him last week to discuss what my options were, should Ford say that my Dark Horse was ready to build but I had to pull the Handling Package. Some of the issue is supply chain...but his feedback from the Ford Rep is that they could generally build as many Mustangs with Handling Package as they want, but the issue becomes the Federal MPG requirements. If they're not building/selling enough EVs (High MPG) to offset the Mustang sales (Low MPG), then they're in danger of dropping below the federally mandated MPG guidelines for all sales. THAT is the main reason for the slow production, although there have been a few supply chain issues. That makes sense to me...but why can't Ford communicate that to the folks who have placed orders 9 months ago?

That can't be right. Handling Package doesn't alter the Dark Horse fuel mpg in any way. Every Dark Horse could be a Handling Package if it were really fuel mpg related.

It's not. It's purely cold weather and safety issues with the super aggressive tires and has been this way for many years on Mach 1, GT350/500 as well. Is it still stupid? Yeah, but it's definitely not supply chain for the most part or government mpg issues.

Ford will not ship HP-type cars during the Winter months, as the tires can develop problems once temperatures become too cold for those compounds.

Is Ford selling that many HP cars? That by removing some HP options, they markedly improve their fleet MPG calculations? Ford produced 2M vehicles in 2022.

I'm not aware of MPG differences between HP and non-HP DHs.

Supply chain? I can see that. Ford has been struggling with this issue for some time.

I think it's simply a combination of factors: supply chain, cold weather (with time running out), scheduling production runs, possible, indirect strike impacts from earlier, etc.

Praying for the flood gates to open in March for scheduling the Handling package. Those of you that are curious, my dealer supplied me an invoice for the parts minus the Tow Hooks. Came out to $10K not including labor. Wing w/gurney flap, front splitter, 19 inch wheels, Trofeo RS's, suspension springs, adjustable sway bar kit, adjustable strut mount kit.
