So I upgraded from an 03 premium vert to an s650 Premium, 401a, auto with AVE. My test drive WAS the drive home lol ! I have driven a number of s550 cars including a Mach 1 and my first impressions of the s650 were, WOW! The interior is really luxurious and while not up to German car standards, well above the previous generations of Mustangs and leaves the GM Camaro in the dust. . Obviously I didn't push the car at that point, but if I had to use a word to describe my first impression of the s650 it would be very well put together despite the bumper gap on my driver's side headlight. The car just feels super solid which is something I have not experienced from pervious Mustangs I have driven or owned. I am very happy with my purchase and I did shop C8, Supra, BMW, Porsche and others and the Mustang was the OVERALL winner in my book....

There's simply no way you're gonna go test drive the S650 and then say "you know what, I don't like this because ________".
I didn't like the S650 at the dealership because the 401A black leather has little dots that look like insect eggs. Ridiculous? Absolutely, but it bothered me personally.

To answer the main question: MagneRide (along with the Performance Package). The improvement to handling it offers is simply fantastic.

I only spent a week in an S550, but between the S650 (GT, Dark Horse) and S550 (GT), here are my thoughts:

S550 GT Premium vs. S650 GT Premium (see car in signature)
  • Interior is nicer on the S650
  • A10 trans is tuned way, way better on the S650
  • S650 feels faster
  • A/V exhaust on the S650 is quite a bit louder than the S550 GT and sounds almost as good as the GT350's exhaust
  • Dashboard on the S550 looks way better. I'll never understand why the chose the stupid tablet look on the S650.
  • Exterior of the S550 is slightly more appealing to me.

S650 GT Premium PP1 vs. Dark Horse
  • Can't feel any difference in speed between the 486hp in the GT and the 500hp in the DH.
  • DH does have a felt handling advantage. I think adding the DH tires to a GT would help a lot, though.
  • DH interior oddly felt less Premium than the GTs because of the cloth/leather seats.
  • DH A/V exhaust is slightly louder than the GT's and seems equal with the GT350 exhaust.

Coming from a 2019 Bullitt I traded it for the Dark Horse and have zero regrets. The Dark Horse with the HP is leagues better than the Bulllitt even after dumping money into the Bullitt’s suspension. The recaros in the Dark Horse are way more comfortable than the Bullitt. And the transmission puts it way over the top. I did every upgrade to the Bulllitt to try to make the shifting feel good on the getrag. The tremec on the Dark Horse stock is lightyears better than all the upgrades on the Bullitt’s getrag, including the shifter. The gear ratios alone make it feel way faster. And as far as the interior, I personally love it. If I want all the old mustang analog tech I’ll get an older mustang. The Dark Horse is modern, the digital display and sync 4 are awesome, and best of all I have a fast, great looking car with all the creature comforts of modern tech and I’m a happy camper. The only thing I lust after is more and more horsepower so maybe a supercharger is in my future. But this is the first mustang I’ve owned that I am happy with the stock car. Take that for what it’s worth.

I have a beautiful modified 2016 Ruby Red Ecoboost which I love but I in the future I plan on upgrading to a new loaded GT.

Interior wise I want an auto 10 speed trans, 401A options pack, performance pack, active exhaust and magneride dampening system.

Exterior wise I want Rapid Red with Opacity Fade Accent Stripes, red painted calipers and bronze package.

I am thinking about going out and test driving a few GT's at some point, what things stood out the most to you during your test drive, normal or otherwise?

Thanks
Terry
I am a newby. I picked up my GT Premium convertible on 7/6 and have driven it 70-80 miles. What I can tell you is that it is awesome. The most impressive and immediate reaction was starting the engine for the first time. Wow! But it was what should be expected, considering the car in question. What was a surprise was the quality of the ride and seat comfort. It is more comfortable than I expected and that doesn't disappointment me at all. I was, also, impressed with the visibility, with the top up. As others have stated, the techy stuff is very impressive. With owning this only a few days, I can honestly say, I haven't found any gotchas. Now, I just have to pray that it is far superior to my 1971 Torino Brougham. What a piece of c@@p that was. I keep the steering and drive mode on sport, all the time. I found the steering far to light, unless in sport mode. Mine does not have Magneride, so I can't offer an opinion on that feature. I, also, wanted the Rapid Red, but the only one my dealer, was willing to get from another dealer, was over $1000 more. I chose a Shadow Black to save some money and am quite happy with it. Maybe being black, the cops won't notice me. :handsinair: I would never purchase a car without driving it. I drove mine twice. You already have the Ecoboost, so maybe that doesn't apply to you. I doubt you will be disappointed in the GT Premium performance. Glenn
