I think they showed the synthetic fuel as a way to make the V8 last forever.
Would be great in a future to be able to synthetize it in our own garage but we're probably still very far from that.
I think that would be a recipe for disaster, and probably a large crater where your garage used to be! :giggle:

I completely acknowledge diesel isn’t the recommended fuel but it’s an example of homebrew fuel.

HOW TO: Brew your own biodiesel
MAKING BIODIESEL While mixing up biodiesel is not much more complicated than baking a cake, it does use methanol and sodium hydroxide or lye, all of which are dangerous substances in their pure form. Wearing safety goggles and rubber gloves is highly recommended, and preparing your first batch under the supervision of someone with experience might be wise. Finally, just as eating badly made cake will cause trouble in your belly, a sub-par batch of biodiesel can do damage to your car. So be sure you’ve got it right before you pour!”

Where there is a will there is a way. More than one way to skin a cat.

Nice! I was waiting for Hammond's review. I like how he juxtaposes the world turmoil with the escape he gets driving the Mustang and without getting political. I think many of us car enthusiasts get the same feeling when we drive our Mustangs. Forget about things we can't control for a little while and connect with the car. Great video!
Especially with his wife leaving him and his father dying basically at the same point in his life, I'm glad he's able to find something to pick his spirits back up.

He has a had a very tough time since his Top Gear accident. He has significant brain injuries and cognitive losses and it is amazing he has managed to achieve what he has. He has been warned about early onset dementia and has significant mood instability.

Still, in the old days he would have been dead after that accident so look on the bright side!

Sad, tragic, hopeful and joyous.

Out of curiosity, what kind of kpg do you get with your gt?
mpg - we use miles here. My S550 did just over 30mpg average (Imperial gallons), my S650 is still quite new and managing about 28mpg but not fully loosened up yet.

It is always amusing telling large SUV owners my 5.0 V8 is better than their 2.5 ton brick. Coupe shape of course.

Nice video-he did a great Mach 1 video too. Hope that e-fuel/synthetic fuel gains momentum and starts to be sold readily.

I didn't realize Hammond has been going through so much turmoil in his life. I wish him well. Not being a track person but having grown up in the 70's with muscle cars, for me, it's all about the magic one feels driving a car. It's one of the reasons I do not like EV. Sure they are very fast but they have no soul. The Mustang has soul. So does the Vette, Challenger/Charger ICE models, the GTI Type R and others. Get behind the wheel and forget about life for a little while.
