1 of 3 we'll get this year, the 3rd and final concept according to top gear will combine the best design elements of concepts 1 and 2 and serve as a pretty good preview of c9 supposedly. I really like how that looks, make the roof 2-3 inches taller, give it proper mirrors, and you'd be good to go. It's like a mid-engine take on c2/c3, way more attractive than c8 is.

Oh, and the c9 will still have a V8, so don't worry about this particular concept being an EV.

It doesn't look "Corvette" enough to me, and is too far a departure from the C8's design language. This reminds me more of a very aggressive take on the Lotus Emira IMO, and wouldn't be an evolution or a revolution of what we have now. This is just totally different.

That said, a lot of the design elements are probably as they are given this concept was designed with the idea that the C9 would be an EV.

I agree with the general consensus that this doesn't feel like a Corvette, but I don't think that, as some have mentioned, it needs to call back to the C5 or earlier. I think Chevrolet needs to look more to whatever concept 2 looks like, assuming that embodies more of what the Corvette is than this does.

TL;DR, this isn't it.

I respectfully disagree, to begin my argument, I submit that much like the mustang, the design has changed so much over the decades, that it's hard to say what a Corvette or a mustang is supposed to look like. Like for instance, a 1967 mustang looks nothing like a mustang 2, a mustang 2 looks nothing like a fox body, a fox body looks nothing like a new edge. I'd argue it's a pretty similar deal with the Corvette, if you pick designs within a 10 or so period, they'll look similar, but across the 70 year history or whatever it is, it's varied immensely in terms of the design.

The "It doesn't like like" arguments really only apply to things like the 911, or wrangler, the kinda shit that has always looked more or less the same, to its detriment IMO.

Additionally my friend, if you look at a c3, you'll see it has a lot on common with this design if you look at things like the sexy curves, especially around the wheel arches where both designs get very curvy, the fact that it looks like an actual stingray, and the arrow shaped leading edge on the hood. The "fangs" in the grille look similar to what the c7/c8 has with a more aggressive twist. Add in the quad taillights, two tone body, and window split, I personally believe it has a lot of nods to previous imo. corvettes, while also looking fresh, and original, the perfect balance

I know it's radical, but look at it this way, if you're GM, where do you take the Corvette from here? C8 was all about the mid-engine layout, but beyond that, it seems like they didn't want to rock the boat any harder than they had to, which is why it's basically c7 design language on a mid-engine car.

But now you have the mid-engine platform, people have responded well very well to it, but what's the next logical step? They can just make c9 a mild update, a slight power bump and a few styling tweaks, but that's unlikely to win over a ton of people who already have c8s.

But if they come out with something gorgeous, something super striking that looks nothing like the existing c8, it provides more of an incentive to upgrade while also making the Corvette and even more appealing product.

Barf.

It’s the work of GM’s new Advanced Design Studio in Leamington Spa (about 20 miles from Birmingham if your UK geography is a bit rusty)

That explains a lot.

I'm kinda stunned people don't seem to like it. Then again, I firmly believe one of the reasons you guys don't like it is because of how different it is to the c8. We see this same cycle with almost every new car design, it comes out, people hate it, it gradually grows on them, they start to love it, then when the replacement comes, everyone hates it. Rinse and repeat.

I genuinely don't see why this is such a turn off. The only iffy thing is the front split and that's gonna be gone if this makes it to production. I personally find this striking, and attractive on a level we've never seen with corvette before.

That’s true, except for me I don’t like the c8 design either hahah 😝

IMO looks like about 4 euro cars were glued together and haphazardly at that. Want to make it look better? Easy, make it look like a Mustang! Seriously, it's a frickin' chevy, you can't make it look decent.

I like the simplicity of the Corvette logo on the concept.

i hope that concept stays a concept. its like a mix of Aston Martin Valkyrie, McLaren Senna, and 2017 Ford GT, but lacks any good styling. the headlights also look like GM took some from the Cadillac Lyriq and stole some from a Hyundai Kona. also has the typical too big with no sidewall wheels and tires of a concept.

what they really need to do is update the 2009 C7 concept and bring that to reality, now that was a good looking concept.

I like the simplicity of the Corvette logo on the concept.
in my opinion, the world doesnt need more logo simplification. its a plague that is making logos less interesting and distinguishable. just look at the evolution of FireFox's logo.

logo simplification sucks out the personality of the logo. and dont even get me started on those stupid styles like "Alegria" infecting places too
