Tinted headlights anybody ?

Hello all , does anyone have tinted headlights? Some days I like the white bezeled headlights and some days I hate them and wish they were smoked like the nite pony ones lol. I want to look into tint but only if they don’t mess with the light output too much . I have 50% windshield and 20%sides and smoked taillight covers. I also know it’s illegal 🫡

You say that you know it’s illegal (the tint) but permit me to relay this tale from my neighbor back in 2018 or 2019.

She’s driving to work, in a turn lane in Fairfax County, VA, and nails the car in front of her, a fart can equipped H*nda civic. FCPD shows up, takes statements, writes her up. She protests “I couldn’t see his tail lights, he just stopped - no brake lights”. He has already written the ticket mind you.
He has the other driver turn the car on, hit the brake lights which are tinted. He can barely see them, he now writes up the front driver for the equipment violation, faults HIM for the collision, cancels the neighbors citation.

Tinting tail lights or headlights look cool, but people can’t see them as well and they’re a safety hazard on public roads. Will they get you cited? Probably not, but... if you’re ever involved in a collision where seeing you could be in question, you very well could be faulted partially or fully. YMMV and all that.

I had everything tinted before I drove it home, so I can't tell you how much it reduced visibility. I have 50٪ on my windshield, and I can see just fine at night. 51, bad eyes, haha

Headlights clearly cannot be after-market tinted. Georgia code 40-8-22 (can't be covered by any type of material unless they came covered from the factory)

You must have missed his last sentence where he states he knows it's illegal... He asked if anyone had tinted headlights, not if it was legal in your specific state,

i think you would be better off just buying the Nite Pony headlights. please dont tint your headlights, it just makes you look stupid

No. That would be a safety concern, a potential liability if involved in an accident, and a violation of vehicle code in most any/all states. Do it the right way and swap out the housings.

Done it and removed it. I almost got into a big car accident due to tinted highlights.

Years ago I had a Black 1098s Ducati and fitted some dark lexan headlight covers they were removable with Velcro something like this would be good to be removable at night and yes I did get booked for them in daytime
