I know it's just the prelim date to get the process started, but after waiting for this damn car as long as I have, I'm glad to see any movement at all.
For context, I ordered my manual Dark Horse w/ AP+HP back in July of 2023, as soon as my dealer called and told me that they had just been given two allotments. I went straight there, placed my order and got my confirmation email the same day, and then nothing. I know there were issues with the supply chain and parts associated with that kept my order from being pulled.
Finally, In July of this year, one year after ordering, my dealer calls and tells me that I'll probably be pushed to 2025, which I made a post about, (see post here), and asked my dealer if I'd be closer to the start of the production year since I've already been waiting for so long. I received nothing back from them. Fast forward to last week and I get a call from my salesman on Wednesday basically telling me if I keep the handling package, I'll never get my car. He used more words than that, but that's what he was saying.
At this point, I've already considered cancelling my order a dozen times, had been looking for other cars, using other configurators to build something else I'd be interested in. I agree to drop the handling package since a bunch of the 2024 HP stuff is now standard, and the things that aren't standard now I can add down the line. I hang up and think nothing about it, assuming it'll be another couple months before I hear anything back, but I was wrong.
On Friday, two days later, I get an email from him with my VIN and build date. I didn't believe it so I went to the build tracker website, put in my order and the VIN from the email he sent me, and right there, staring right back into my face, was my car with all of my options, less the HP. I'm not one to get overly optimistic, and I'm not getting my hopes up, but if a lot of the timelines on here for build-date to delivery are anything to go off of, I could have it just in time for Christmas. On the one hand that would be great because Merry Christmas to me, but on the other hand, I live in the PNW and we get a fair bit of snow, so it may not get as much use as I'd like in the early days of having it.
This has been a hell of an experience. I know there are plenty of DHs on the ground that I could have went and bought at anytime. The problem is the ones that had my options were all automatics, and the ones that had my manual didn't have the options I wanted. Most weren't even close to what I had optioned, except for one I saw in FL, but it was well over priced.
Thanks for reading. I'll update more if you're all interested, otherwise I'll just post pics when I get it.
