@krisk sorry to bring up an old thread, but just wondering if you're still running this system. If so, how much louder is it than stock in normal and sport mode? I mainly run it in those two (quiet for cold starts). I'm looking at this vs borla S-Type or FPR Sport. S-Type seems to loud for where I live and FPR Sport seems like a valid option, but I don't want to end up wanting more

Yes, I’m still running the AWE Switchpath. It is louder on cold starts, but not to a large degree. I would say quiet mode with the AWE is somewhere between quiet and normal with the stock system. Normal with AWE is again probably between normal and sport mode when stock. While it is a little louder, the biggest difference is the tone. It is a much deeper sound than stock, and you feel it in a similar way as you feel the sound from a subwoofer. I’ve had it now about seven months and I really like it. As I said in a previous post there is some drone at low rpm in the cabin, but it’s nowhere near as obnoxious as a lot of systems. If you have a way to hear one in person, I’d highly recommend it. It is really tough to get a good idea of the sound from a recording.

I have a manual transmission, so I am never really much under 1600 RPM cruise anyway. Great write up (somehow I missed your initial post) and I am definitely in the "old school muscle car sound" camp. Have you experienced any drone above 1600 RPM at cruise or on throttle?

There is very little drone above 1600rpm. I would say there is still some slight drone, but you almost have to be actively trying to hear it in order to notice.

I should add, I absolutely love the sound at idle and when really getting on the throttle, and that makes it worth putting up with a little drone.

The more I drive it, the more I’m loving this exhaust. I’ve always liked the deep muscle car sound, and this is it. It sounds really good all around, but I can’t get over how good it sounds just sitting at a stoplight idling around 600-650 rpm. I’m not sure if the drone is getting less noticeable with time, but what is there really doesn’t bother me. I’m a definite fan of this exhaust, and I don’t see swapping it out for anything else. I went into this install saying if I didn’t like it I’d just go back to my stock system with Steeda H pipe. The stock exhaust and Steeda H pipe have been relegated to the shop, and the AWE SwitchPath is staying on the car!
I’m glad you like this system. Your write up makes me want to get it! I have the stock active exhaust, and I wanted a bit more volume so I’m probably going to go h pipe. My s550 had so much rasp once I put an x pipe on it. Certainly grew old quickly. I love the stock system with its rumble and deep tone. I want to maintain that with more volume. Also you must know by know the active stock exhaust burbles and pops occasionally. How is that impacted by awe system and/or h pipe?

Seriousness aside AWE should hire you to market it haha.

Cheers,

Cheers,
The frequency of the burbles and pops is unchanged by either exhaust setup, it is just amplified. Why I really love the AWE comes down to the tone. It is the deep muscle car sound, which is what I prefer in an exhaust setup.
