Please seek out the website and sign to prevent data collection from your car’s information! VW people were upset about data collection from their cars and wondered if Ford is doing the same things from our car as well? We should also fight back for our privacy!

There are web sites which offer all sorts of data blocking, anti-tracking, and a host of other 'protection' schemes. None of them work 100%, and in fact most don't even cover 25%. Do what you will, payout what you can afford, and feel warm and fuzzy. NOT!

If you own a cellphone, you're being tracked! It is a basic function of cellphones to poll available cells to use. When someone calls you, this information is used to correctly route the call to you. If you receive text messages, the same scenario applies.

If you really want to feel paranoid, know that the NSA listens to every cellphone communication in the US, looking for key words whether they're spoken of texted. If they ID you as subversive, the scrutiny is even tighter. No matter, you can't stop being tracked!

There is one form of tracking which should bother you a lot more than the aforementioned, and that is in-vehicle recording. As far as I know, the (circa 2010) Buick Enclave was the first to actually record what was/is being said within the cabin, much like your dash cam does if the mic it turned on. The EEC and other control modules record speed, airbag deployment, and a host of other things. While you can shut them down to keep them from communicating with the manufacturer, they're still readable. All the authorities need to do, is get a search warrant for the info.

My personal education of this sort of intrusion came in the form of a traffic accident which occurred about 10 years ago here in Roswell, NM. A 2015 Cadillac Escalade rammed the rear of a Kia on the truck bypass. In court, the prosecution played the last 20 minutes of in-cabin voice. You heard the obviously drunk driver swearing about other drivers not getting out of his way. Just seconds before the collision, he said (sic): Get the f--- out of my way bi---! At the time the airbags were deployed, his speed was 93 mph! The woman died as did her daughter, and turned her son into an invalid. They even had a graph of his steering angle, vehicle skew angle, brake pressure (none), and a host of other evidence.

Do you still feel safe from prying eyes?

LOL Ford has been watching where you drive ever since like 2021 or 2022 (whichever year they gave the mustang that telematics and GPS geofencing module). Its okay, Ford won't tell on you all the dirty places you visit or secretly like going..

I have to admit I'm a bit concerned over the linked article's assertion they're collecting genetic and SEXUAL ACTIVITY data (besides all the other stuff).

Hey! those girls at the casino were all over 18 and had ID to prove it! 😈 😆

To be honest, I don't worry about that stuff anymore. We are tracked in one way or another everywhere we go. Whether it's data from our cars, computers, cell phones, IPass, security cameras, traffic cameras, etc., etc. it's part of today's world. Maybe I'm just old and naive, but I don't care.

Your assertions in this particular example are false. The NSA is required to follow FISA, EO 12333, the Patriot Act, the 4th Amendment, and various case law (Carpenter v. US, 2018, for example).

The tldr version of the laws: NSA cannot collect in the US, nor can they collect on US persons. Even with a warrant, NSA collection in the US is extremely limited.

I understand why people believe wild stories about the NSA; regardless of the conspiracies, even if the NSA tried to listen to every phone call and read every text, it would be impossible for them to store and analyze the overwhelming volume of data. For example, in 2021, Americans sent over 2 trillion SMS messages to each other. That’s 5.5 billion messages per day. While the US government has excellent resources, wasting time and money on US persons is not even remotely close to NSAs mission.

The NSA is not watching us. However, if someone is a shit bag and doing something illegal, there is a chance law enforcement most certainly has a warrant to watch everything they do.

Don’t be a shit bag and you’ll be fine.

Do you really know of a career politician who isn't a cheat?

Harry Truman said it best: "Show me a career politician and I'll show you a career criminal."
