Thanks ALM. Not to be pushy given you're enjoying your new toy but how did the Flow Brackets with the DH plinth go? Fitted with no dramas?

Looking to order some soon but don't want to pull the trigger till someone says the plinth works for a GT as well.

I was wondering about this...

The jacket and duffle bag.
Dealer did mention during handover that the sizes were on the small side, so size up.

For context, this email came in over night after two full business days since taking delivery.
FPC package 8 - 11 days after delivery of vehicle.

I didn't get any plinth.
I think you will find the profile of the DH bumper is different to the GTs.
Flow Design were going to produce a plinth for the GT, but you might find the front plate will protrude quite a bit with it, making it look a bit odd.

Give me a day or three, I'll do a video on the brackets, and somebody else was asking about them as well.
Would you believe I've been distracted of late, and have to play catch up with other things around the house.

Just an FYI if you were eligible for early delivery of the duffel bag and jacket just contact ford performance and they will send it. I got mine in October and car is due in Jan

Depends on the dealer. Mine told me that they stopped sending them early after a few cancelled Raptor orders, they didn't take the car but they got a free jacket and bag out of it.

I gotta say, I'm really liking the Carbonised Grey wheels that our GTs come with as standard, if you didn't opt for the Black Pack.

YMMV with other body colours of course, but white is such a blank canvas to work with.

I'm on the fence about going down the black lug nuts path.
I do like the contrast the standard nuts offer.

I know this is a personal taste thing, and ignoring the standard security nut, what is the consensus with the lug nuts here?

I like the colour but not the style however my budget doesn't allow me to change it atm.

I've got the black pack on my order and if I ever change wheels I'm considering going down the carbonised grey path, reckon that would look pretty nice (IMO).

Using the DH as a gauge for this statement as it comes with carbonised grey wheels but also has black elements scattered around the body work.

Heads Up for those in S/E QLD!

It didn't occur to me to order another Linkt transponder for the Mustang until the day before delivery handover.
Talk about being asleep at the wheel !

This arrived on the 8th day.

If you're a daily user of toll roads, order this sooner than later.
https://www.linkt.com.au/help/travelling-toll-roads/order-extra-tags/brisbane

Even though you can add your Mustang rego to your account, you'll get scammed the video identification fee until your e-tag is fitted.

I do wonder... why do tolls keep going up, and they're too damn tight to include an alcohol wipe now? :curse:

I'd probably change them to black, but it's not as noticeable as it is for black wheels.

If you are unsure, chose one wheel and block them out with a black marker. If you like it, order some black lugs. If not, than a little IPA or MT will return them to silver.

Those two-piece standard lugs are a bit of a gamble. Over time, the inner steel nut can swell and prevent a socket from fitting properly, which then ends up stripping the outer chrome (or black) cap. So, swapping them out to solid examples wouldn't be a terrible idea. Ford uses the same arrangement on Rangers, which I swapped out recently to be on the safe side (car is 8 years old now).

These are the ones I have -
Black Wheel Nuts (20 Piece) - Autoware

The same company sells Ford Performance versions, but they have the same two-piece design as the factory units. They are also twice the price!
Ford Performance Black Wheel Lug Nuts Kit Of 20 - Autoware

If you go for aftermarket wheels, then you may need a thinner bullet style lug instead of the factory acorn style.

A look at how the dealer fitted the Flow Designs brackets.
The DH plinth is for the DH not the GT.

Thanks Adam, great video. I'll order the flow design brackets and tell the dealer to watch your vid.

I've never been a touchy-feely kind of car guy. Never had any vehicle in an awards type car show. I have hung out at a few local eatery-sponsored impromptu shine and shows, but little else. Nonetheless, if it was fairly clean in and out, I didn't care otherwise.

As we used to say in high school... 'If it don't go, chrome it!'

Just ordered my flow design brackets for NSW slimline plates and threw in the offset spacers and Kingpin covers as well.

NSW has different sized plates front and back for the slimline style so you'll need to add two different brackets to your cart (although they look the same in the pictures)

The S650 got it's first detail (by me) over the weekend.

The basic process went like this:
Spray iron remover on wheels
Let dwell for a few minutes
Foam wheels with Carpro Lift
Rinse wheels

Spray wheels and tyres with brake buster
Scrub wheels and tyres with various brushes
Rinse wheels

Spray iron remover on rest of dry car - 500mL of iron remover only just made it around, and I had to forgo doing most of the windows.
Dwell for a few minutes
Foam with Lift
Rinse

Foam with Carpro Reset
Rinse

Contact wash with Mint shampoo (house brand crap from CarCareProducts I will never buy again, and wanted to use up) with MF (microfibre) wash mitt
Rinse

Blow dry with Ego 765 blower
Because of the limited hydrophobics of the new OEM finish, blow dry was, as expected, not totally effective.
Finished off drying with a Bowdens MF Big Green Sucker towel.

Bead Maker applied with two MF towels

Windows done, outsde and inside, with Stoner's Invisible Glass and waffle weave towels

Side mirrors.
I really do need to sit down and sus out these damn folding mirrors.
Note to one's self... make sure the mirrors are fully extended before starting the wash.
I'm sure they were to begin with, but...

S650 Mustang What's In ALM's Garage? 20241020_163321_1200

At one stage I caught them folding in on me.
The key fob was not on my person at the time either.

Perhaps the water & shampoo tricked the capacitive touch sensors and locked the vehicle... which made the mirrors fold in?
#1stWorldProblems

The internal mirror switch only appears to have two states: deployed or retracted.
I don't know if one of those states includes auto retraction.
This is a sit down and play job, because the manual is very generic and can be vague. :lipssealed:

And to simulate shutting down/parking the vehicle, you risk the dreaded double honk!
Although I think I have this sussed... turn the vehicle off, partially open driver's side door - WAIT - for the center screen to completely shut down - THEN - get out of the vehicle.

Turning the vehicle off and getting out/shutting door straight away will definitely earn you a double honk.

I'll asking my dealer to disable the double honk when it goes in for the Piece of Mind Service", as I know this can be deactivated using ForScan.

I must say, I'm really liking the Griot's Garage Boss foam cannon!
With the metering tip inserted at the bottom of the pick-up tube, and being able to screw a product bottle directly on, is not only a time saver, but just brilliant.
All foam cannons should do this.

S650 Mustang What's In ALM's Garage? 20241020_163030_1200

It's a shame Griot's don't ship outside of the USA, as I believe many Aussies would like to have one of these. I think you can get them in from 3rd party vendors, but they tend to become crazy expensive. :curse:

There has to be a market for an Aussie-based detailing supplier to become a Griot's distributor, surely?
D, why hasn't this happened already?!!
