2024 Mustang GT S650 Prototype First SPY Sighting! 👀

We now have our first look at the next-generation Mustang GT, caught close-up on public roads. This new prototype had a definite V8 rumble, and it was running on what appeared to be the current GT’s forked 10-spoke wheels—wrapped in 255/40ZR19 Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. The all-season is likely a necessity for testing during Michigan’s winter months.

Comparing the wheels on this V8-powered prototype, the track-tested prototype in our inaugural Mustang spy shots were running on much smaller wheels, which appeared to be more in line with an entry-level Mustang Ecoboost-spec prototype.

This new GT prototype appears to show subtle protrusion beneath vinyl camouflage, placed just aft of the front wheels. The apparent detail hints at possible fender vents on this GT, while there doesn’t appear to be any surface development visible on the initial Ecoboost prototype. Perhaps the new GT model will have some more visual differentiation from its turbocharged four-cylinder counterpart. Only time, and the appearance of more Mustang prototypes will answer that design question.

Awesome! Definitely looks a bit lower than the EcoBoost prototype we saw last week. Is it possible that the GT could have a different look to it altogether compared to the EcoBoost?

Seeing the big mirrors again, so it's definitely the european version. Damn it Ford, cant you just make one mirror size for all Mustangs just like the Chevy did on the C8?

Otherwise we can clearly see a different DRL than on the other car which looks more like two tribars we can spot here

That front end looks beefy…. Yeah
Almost like the “GT500” front bumpers on the 18+ GTs

..and seem to have functional vents similar to the M1 at the sides or for cooling at least on one side

Much more like real spy shots than the first ones ;)

I have three things that I take away at first glance:

• The exhaust system or more precise the space that is provided for the final exhaust is way too big for just a two tip system. à Looks like they’re keeping the (active) quad exhaust
• It looks like the front bumper is divided into two sections close to the GT500 design. It might be fake but it might help integrating a larger grill
• The side mirrors look almost identical to the ones the current EU version has… We might as well get the same or almost the same car her. They could test the EU spec S650 but that would be far-fetched…

Anyhow, great pictures and some promising details.

Guys, Ford ist totally messing with us. Upon further analysis, this is definitely not a S650 but a camod S550!!!

Look how the vertical line of the bumper is missing, but we see the old horizontal line of S550. Also the diffusor is clearly the old one.

On the Headlight Bezel an tribars you can 100% see that this is the 18 model!

If legit S550 body, then Ford is using it to either test a 1). Hybrid 5.0, 2). Pure ICE Gen4 5.0, or 3). Gen4 Hybrid 5.0.

They can't have that many preassure if they can wrap an old S550... However, they might have actually wrapped an EU S550... Was wondering why else they would test a S650 with EU specs that doesn't need any testing...

I wish the spy photographers would have asked the lady why she was wearing a mask alone in her car. Some test drivers take this camo thing too seriously.

I will say this as this car appears to have slightly tighter camo, I hope it ends up looking different enough. Like I hope something about the final design is going to wow us when the camo drops off.
