seems it is only valid for the h pipe I tried putting it on the air filters I wanted and won't take it. Where did you see the code? maybe there are other ones

I asked Steeda EU directly for a Black Friday code, as there was nothing in Europe compared to the US, and he gave me the one I mentioned above for the H-Pipe, X-Pipe only.

I had it too for 4 years (H pipe) and the axle backs 9 years. All not certified for Swiss roads :bandit:, was never controlled here or in France. Guess I was lucky, I did avoid a control once, they were setting up and on the way back I just took another route 😁.

You just need to take them off when passing the mandatory technical controls. Only had one in 2021 after 5 years, and should have had the second one in May this year but they have like a year delay 🤣, so next owner can do it or the garage when they prep the car for selling.

How do you take of a Xpipe? Is it not welded to the original exhaust pipes? (Sorry i’m a noob in that regard)

Sorry, but all of this, seems to me, a lot of work just to hear a louder din while out for a road trip! I might be wrong, but I thought road trips were supposed to be a serene way to relax from the din, hustle and bustle of city life?

If you are in the EU it seems like a lot of work, but for me it's a 200-dollar one time investment. I love that sound it's one of the main reasons I love driving the car. To each his own for sure.

Indeed in the EU it's extra work if you get controlled or if you go through the mandatory inspections across the vehicle's life in order to pass.
I'll probably wait before installing one, want to see how the stock exhaust is.

I know in the US at least it sounds really good stock. it's for sure an upgrade over the S550

The choice isn't as obvious as with the S550. I just drove 400 km with the flaps open, without feeling the need to make more noise. Not to mention that my wife doesn’t want me to make the modification... I’m giving myself more time to form a clearer opinion, as it sounds better than it did in the beginning. 😵💫🤯

Ah wives and car noises 😁🙈

Yup US versions really sound good stock. From the sound examples of EU models it's not bad either but not as loud as in the US I think. EU norms and stuff...

I'm also debating whether I should take the risk. Also because I'm on probation for not clearing my windshield from ice two years ago. Doesn't sound all that bad but it actually was super dangerous and super stupid of me. So the Swiss have painful punishment in the pipeline should I do something bad again. Though I'm not sure if a H-pipe would be bad enough to release the full fine.
Another consideration is some comments on sound comparison videos, that the H-pipe doesn't sound as good as the stock exhaust due to high pitch raspiness.

Any thoughts on that?

Why is it illegal it has nothing to do with emissions? is it just the noise?
