I bought it. I added 7 years to the factory warranty.

It depends. If you’re going to thoroughly compromise the warranty with mods, don’t waste your money. But, if you’re commuting and need to keep close to stock or just want to keep it that way, the Ford ESP can save you money if something unfortunate happens. I got one on my ’17 Rap that runs out in ... January ’25 IIRC. I’ve had one ESP repair, a front axle bearing. So I spent more than I saved on that one, but back when ESP’s weren’t that expensive, I had my AC compressor replaced on my ’01 Lightning, basically paying for the ESP. It was the only problem I had with that truck, about 7 or 8 years in(?). I got the ESP on the Rap because I was using it to commute for a couple years and then was able to give her a break on the day to day.

You have time to decide what works for you.

@akawease ..... it's really a crap shoot. You already have three years of Ford comprehensive and 5 years of powertrain warranty. If it's going to happed it will likely happen in that time. Plus are you financing the car and adding that warranty to the cost? If so that warranty starts to become expensive. Sold my 2014 Mustang to a friend when I got my 2024 GT this past February. Other that brake pads and a lower control nothing ever went wrong and still hasn't.

As you consider a purchase, you do not have to buy one until just before the factory warranty expires.

If you do elect to buy one, your best price is most likely going to be through Granger Ford. They sell warranties for $50 over dealer cost. https://www.grangerfordextendedwarranty.com/

*Consumer protection laws in CA and FL require the seller to be licensed. Granger cannot sell policies in these states.

I did buy a warranty from Granger. Modern cars are just different. The complexity and density of items underneath the hood alone was enough for me to decide to purchase.

Labor rates in my area are currently $150 an hour; it's difficult to see those ever going down. Given the extended coverage over the next several years for a one-time cost, it was worth it.

YMMV.

With these new fangled, hi-tech, hi-performance cars, you never know what might go wrong after factory warranty expires....it's mostly peace of mind, but on some occasions, it'll be a godsend....

I declined it initially at purchase since it was another markup. About 6 months later I got offers in the mail from ford, and with all the electrical issues they've had so far i figured it was worth it. I've only had little things with the screens, but given how much stuff costs with these cars it was a shot in the dark.

Get it but as mentioned above wait until the factory one is about to expire. You will know then if you like the car enough to keep it or not. If you keep it, chances are you'll be glad you got the warranty. The ESPYs have lighting coverage that will take care of the $2,000 tail light that's going to fail. I do $10,000 a week worth of extended warranty repairs on various items that my dealership and I am just one of five advisors. I know that realistically some of people are not using them or else how did they make money by selling them, but from where I stand it's a no-brainer. There are also aftermarket options some of which are excellent. If you bank with a credit union they are going to have a contract they offer and credit Union offerings are always good because they have to stand behind it to their members. Stay away from anyone who contacts you to buy one, only purchase one that you have to seek out yourself. I love iced tea the rapper, but that car shield Auto shield is the worst thing out there we don't even accept them and neither do most of the dealers in our area. The fact is that a lot of people on this board will not have this car 2 years from now they're always moving on to the next bigger shinier thing and for those people it's a waste of money. There are transferable when you sell but if you trade it's gone.

Until someone says “stress cracks! NO WARRANTY FOR YOU!” Whether there is impact damage or not. :-/ ( It’s not just the Mustangs, dealers love to do this in Raptor world too. Some pretty obviously have not been impacted ).

I have one aftermarket warranty experience with one offered by Allstate and it was bad. It was a dogfight to get them to pay up - like going into that archetypical sleazy used car dealership, but for warranties. Lots of “let me talk to my manager”, wait times in the several hours - I had access to a speaker phone so they weren’t going to out wait me. I literally was on the phone over 6 hours, 3 days in one week, then I got my agent to do the same thing. He later apologized to me and stopped selling them.

Good to know there other options, but I don’t know if I could go there myself.

I received an extended warranty offer in the mail with the car dealers logo and information on the letterhead. I went to the dealer and questioned them about the letterhead info and the dealer said it was a third party warranty with the dealers authorization to use their name and logo., but it was not FORD WARRANT.
