Is the extended warranty worth it?

That’s the mistake we all making. You don’t add 7 years. The first 3 years are the limited bumper to bumper and is extended up to 7. In essence you pay for 7 to add 4 more years after the limited warranty expires. That is why it does not make sense to buy it for a brand new car. I am going tomorrow to cancel mine.
No I actually added 7 years so now I have 10. If I think I am getting a good deal I will buy it when I purchase the car. Other times I have waited until the factory warranty almost expires. I am keeping the car so it wasn't an issue.

True. Monster bill is different for different people. There’s a youtube video floating around entitled something along the lines of ‘$5,000 for a new tail light’
Not a joke. F Series BLIS module is embedded in the tail light and if they crack and get water intrusion it causes a short, which can screw up signal values for dozens of things connected to the gateway module.
Replaced both of my BLIS rear taillight housings last year. Damage I must have done and not realized it. Found takeoffs for a fraction of the cost of new.

Water in the housings isn't going to do anything to unrelated components that connect to unrelated modules just because they all connect to the GCM ... 😆

Yes this is common. If the moisture has not affected the BLIS module, you can just replace the light. If it has, you will need the light and module and a reflash as well. The usual symptoms are a/c not working, front windows won't go down but rear ones will and radio either will not work or makes a feedback noise. Its common for F-250's to have the rear lights stolen, two lamps with modules and reflash is about $5K.

The sooner you buy the extended warranty the cheaper is it. That`s the incentive to buy it now.

Unless you HAVE to finance your ESP at time of purchase, wait till your factory 3/36 is up.

Just bought a Grainger Ford ESP for our 2022 F-150. Got an additional 5/75 for $1300. That is $0 deductible Premium Care, with rental car coverage and lighting coverage.

Far better deal then most rip off dealers will hit you for at the time of sale.

Plus if you buy at acquisition, your clock starts then. Just wait...

The coverage starts at warranty start date of new vehicle purchase. If you wait till the 3/36 is up you will have to get the used side of esp and will have to get it inspected by a ford dealer. The best bet is to wait a month before the 3/36 is up.
Best thing about granger or flood is you can buy with a payment plan. They let you put 10% down and finance the rest at 0%.

Correct. Why do you suggest that it’s best to wait 2 years, 11 months or 35k miles-ish before purchasing?

You could buy at Granger, or Ziegler or Flood at cost, finance it whether you buy the warranty the day after purchase or 1 day before bumper to bumper expires. Two advantages if you by early in the post purchase process
1) You insulate yourself agains ESP price increases in the ensuing years.
2) if you by rental coverage and encounter a troublesome issue to diagnose and fix.

A downside is if you buy the ESP while the car still smells new, you’re still in the honeymoon phase and it’s not a sure thing you’ll be keeping her.

Obviously if you’re going to mod the daylights out of it, the extended warranty would be expensive for what you got...

I tend to sell cars before the 3 year period. So the 2 year mark lets me think if I’m keeping which I have not up to this point. Or decide if I’m going to mod which I almost always do. If you know your going to keep it for years and keep it stock no reason not to buy at time of sale.

Got it, in that scenario your plan makes sense. I tend to bitterly cling to my vehicles ;-)

I purchased the Extended Warranty and the Maintenance Warranty.
I’ve never had any regrets.
It only takes one Problem and it pays

I purchased the maintenance and extended warranty for 4018.00 best thing to do. 10 years coverage for everything, except wear items and 20 oil changes at every 5,000 miles. It’s also transferring if you sell. Just pick a reliable dealership. There are some out there. It’s better than the third party ones that will screw you down the road. Like car shield, what a joke they are. BTW mine is only a summer car, stored for the winter.

If you have Ford points you can use that to help with the Ford extended warranty. Because of points and cash payment discount, Zeigler sold me a Ford 10year, 48,000 mile, zero deductible, including light bulbs, for $748.
