While a hint of mustang may be in the render i see more of a tempo fusion. The aggressive stance isn’t bad but just isn’t yelling mustang, yet.

That’s what the FGX Falcon was, basically a rwd fusion with a V8. I just tried to add that design to the s650 after I let AI do its thing. That way I can kinda show how you can pay homage to the Mustang without it being one.

While I would love to see the concept, I don't expect to see the widebody flares.

One question I would ask is should they use the mustang style tail lights or would something different be better? If they used the Mustang tail light as part of a parts sharing, would that change the trunk (boot) opening?

You brought up something I didn’t think of…

Real question for the Mach 4 is how much of the car is actually shared with the Mustang in general. If it has different tail lights, front fascia, doors etc. is it really sharing costs other than the chassis?

I think it should be a liftback though.

Let's go with the Falcon concept for a name. Based on the Mustang platform, what would need to happen, where could savings be made, what needs to happen to prevent costs from increasing beyond what people would pay?

Mustang is 107" wheelbase according to the Google, the Falcon was 110-121. Both the Fusion and the Taurus were 112 wheelbases, so let's assume a 5-6 inch stretch and put it at 112-113" for a starting point

4 standard (not suicide) doors should fit at that point, but you are probably going to have a bit more overhang at the rear to push back the seats and give more usable truck space (or liftback). That adds another 3 inches...so let's call it 197-199 inches long. That's 2-4 inches longer than the Aussie Falcon. Fusion was 191, Taurus was 203. They might be able to shorten that up a bit to 195 ish depending on how they do the rear glass. Mustang is 190 inches long and a lot of that is hood (bonnet) and glass over the trunk (boot). This is all assuming that the hood length/shape remains the same.

I like the Mustang inspired front ends in some of the above renders, plus it tracks with Ford designs.

Same power plants as the mustang except for GT350/GT500 style engines. So even the DH engine would be on the table (especially if it becomes the default GT engine). Same Ecoboost engine as well

RWD layout unless it uses the 3.0 or 3.5 engine as the top engine (it should use the V8 IMO). If it uses the EB 3.0/3.5, then utilize an AWD layout...and it should use the 3.5 version for the upscale engine if it doesn't use the 5.0.

Same cockpit oriented layout the current Mustang uses. The Mustang has one of the best "glass cockpit" layouts I have seen. Keep some duplicate physical controls if possible. Voice control if it can't, but I would rather not have my car listening to my conversations like MB does.

Both cloth and leather interiors as an option. Current mustang seats are okay, or upgrade to put more adjustability. NOTE, this will incur an additional weight penalty, but gain some people who want better seats. Maybe the old Thunderbird SuperCoupe Seats?
Should there be a cloth seat option, or just a "vegan leather" option (aka, pleather/vinal) as the base? Remember, this should be an upscale car. This assumes no Lincoln version.

Probably a slightly higher roofline to accommodate a sunroof because they put those in everything. Higher roofline will also allow more rear seat passenger headroom as those seats will be higher as well.

Convertible option? Honestly, I don't think it's needed.
0-60 should be in the 3.9-4.1 range with 12.5 and 110-112 as the 1/4 for the top performing version. 0.95g on the skidpad

39k as a base model, maybe 72 fully loaded? Doesn't need the CF wheels, etc.

That’s actually a pretty spot on price range. Most of the savings would come from the powertrains you listed and the chassis. AWD development might push the price a little too far, but that’s something that could find its way back into the Mustang to regain some of that back.

Liftback would require some development/cost in itself but would increase the appeal of the car from a practical standpoint. Might even be worth it over competitors for space.

Now length you mentioned would put it right around a CT5 V, which might hit the sweet spot in size and could easily snag sales since a V8 starts at about 95k. The regular V6 CT5 V sits above premium GT price range (56k) with only an auto anyways. So the Falcon has a little room to be more expensive than the Mustang in at least 3 trims and still capture some of that market.

Just to digress for a second, spring-boarding off of this...

This article serves as a reminder that the dealer meeting showed off four different cars - the Mach 4, the "Baja" Mustang, the RTR Ecoboost, and a HI-PO convertible.

At this point we know for sure the RTR exists, given that it was at NAIAS and not long after what I'm assuming was a production-intent prototype was spotted at one of Ford's development plants.

We can reasonably assume that the HI-PO convertible will also arrive in a year or two, what with the UAW announcement of both the Predator engine production (which admittedly could be for the GTD) picking up, as well as the new "Legend" engine supposed to spin up shortly thereafter. IMO it's a no-brainer that car would have a coupe variant - I'm guessing there was a convertible variant displayed to drive home the point to dealers that Ford is bringing back the HI-PO convertible. I'd wager that car will be called the Boss or Dark Horse Boss based on recent trademark filings as well.

The Mach 4 is probably the worst-kept secret at this point, as Ford has all but basically said it's happening. I wouldn't be surprised if mules existed but were not yet spotted. At this point there has to be at least one functional one that exists, if Ford's trying to release it sooner than later - maybe they're running at a time of day when they're least likely to be spied.

The only real uncertainty is the Baja Mustang, but if Ford's trying to be the "Porsche of off-road" (which I thought they already were, given the Raptor and Bronco), and they're Tremor-ifying everything, a Mustang Raptor or equivalent isn't too much of a long-shot.

If the above has any validity, we're in for an interesting couple of years. The only question I have left is, how far can they stretch - figuratively and literally - the S650 platform to make this work? Maybe there's something skunksworks in the background?

P.S: I feel compelled to state that I'm purely spit-balling here based on my imperfect understanding of the auto industry. If what I've said is in fact true, it's all a slightly uneducated guess...

The Baja Mustang has been the other project Farley has been hinting at for a year now as well. Followed by the “Porsche of Off Road” statement he said recently.

Everything Farley name drops or hints at happens in some way, he does it to prepare for backlash or to create excitement I noticed.

I used Rollers AI. Cost like 15 bucks I believe, then I quickly photoshopped the wonky double logos or added a simple line or bumper to keep the renders looking the same.

Interessiert render, I appreciate your effort but it doesn't work for me. This looks almost identical to an F80 M3.

A Mustang shouldn't look like a BMW and I believe the S550 was partially so successful because it was overall good looking but didn't look like a copy cat.

Your render isn't really in line with the current design language although it's decent looking.
