Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this—I’ve booked my car in for a service to get it checked out, but thought I’d ask around here too.
I occasionally get a message pop up very briefly that says:
“Steering Assist Fault - Service Required”

It seems to happen when I’m turning the wheel in tight spots or doing a U-turn. The steering goes a bit stiff for a second, then it goes back to normal as I complete the turn. No other warning lights stay on after that.
Anyone had this happen before? Keen to hear your thoughts or if you’ve had something similar.

Thanks!

I have had this happen with my F150. To your point, it seemed to be driven by an action I was performing at the time. Has not happened since. I would ignore unless it starts occurring on a regular basis.

Yes, I've seen that. I installed Ford Performance oil catch cans. I put the brace on top of the grounding wire and then a nut on top of that (this is on the passenger side). Right away, I had the same condition you're describing.

I had 2 nuts left over in the kit, so I decided to mount it as such:

grounding wire > nut > brace for the catch can > additional nut.

Seems a little odd but then the cans looked to be positioned just like the Ford supplied pictures once done and the fault went away. I've never seen it since (knock on wood).

Correction: the error I saw actually said Steering Assist fault
service required.
