I’ve made probably between 15-20 passes, probably 5, maybe 6 trips to the track.

Prep matters a lot, you want to get a drag radial on there, I had a FEW dangerous shifts 2-3 where the ass kicked out at speed and had to let out.

It wasn’t worth hitting the wall because I was on continentals.
Now I went et street R bias plys.

When I was N/A I ran a 275/40/17 which is a 26”, they look small but help with gearing on a stock car.

I was pretty consistent 11.9/12.0 @ 118+ like that.
Out of curiosity why does the ass kick out during those hard shifts?

1000 lb lighter, while being FBO and still run a slower time. These GT’s are so advanced they’re actually insane
Not quite 1,000lbs, more like 800 for a 1990 GT.

The current Mustang makes almost double the HP. Plus gearing etc. Nobody is denying there have been huge advances in the last 40 years but you don't need aftermarket heads/cam/intake to run 12's in an old 5.0

The new 5.0 is 8ish lbs per HP and a wicked 10 speed.

No. You probably don’t. But you definitely need some good mods in general

The 10 speed is what’s insane. My friend has a manual hellcat, and we did a roll from 40 twice. Both times, race started and we were literally able to wave at eachother because I was next to him. Come like 100 mph I was at his rear bumper with my fender. Insane.

From what I've seen on youtube, halfshafts may be an issue at the strip.

I run in drag mode with traction control and advance trac off…

No traction control = better possible et/mph but the risk of spinning through the 1st few gears
Wasn’t a problem after I put drag radials on it..

Also my local track has very narrow lanes with big tight concrete barriers…
A lot of cars have been damaged

They really are, even stock. Yet tractable, reliable and consistent.

For us older guys sometimes it’s hard to believe. We really had to dance around to get close to these numbers back in the day. Now you just check tire pressure and throw in some 93 and boom, you’re there!

Yeah it’s crazy. A bone stock production car making 11’s is impressive. Granted, there’s millions more that are quicker obviously, but I’m saying for its power. For example, my scat pack I had before this, same power, more torque, still only ran the 1/4 in the 12’s consistently.

Still hot garbage. 4600 pound land yacht. I love my scat honestly but it’s weight really made it hard to compete with its competition.

It's faster than any stock Mustang or Camaro and it doesn't weigh 4600lbs

It’s best ever 1/4 was 11.7 recorded. People are making that in these stangs too in good conditions. And it’s focused on the 1320, so everything about it is 1/4 mile improved. The mustang was made to be an all around performance car that still manages to match it. Not that crazy in my opinion.
Also, in my year of scat pack, it wasn’t an option.
