My local Ford dealer where I bought 3 Mustangs over the years charges $54.95 for a basic semi syn oil change (Called the "Works") up to 6 qts and tire rotation. I get the full syn oil, pay for the extra quarts and they rotate the tires for about $108. I'm in and out in an hour or less. No spilled oil in my garage, no need to recycle it and my back doesn't require ibuprofen when I crawl out from underneath. I'm 75, used to do all my own services and still do on motorcycles, boat motor and lawn equipment. I used to laugh at people who didn't change their own oil. Now I'm happily one of them. Who would enjoy rotating heavy tires on my F-150? Sometimes my oil changes are free or heavily discounted using Ford Points!

Nearly 60, a full left leg amputee, and I still do all my own work. Oil changes are not difficult at all. And this way, I KNOW the work is done right. Plus I do it for much less and use full synthetic oil.

I've only let them do the truck because I got a free 3 year maint plan after some repair delays.

But do whatever makes you happy.

So after having car for 1 year finally did oil change at a 1000 miles. Used the Motorcraft Synthetic. I’ve changed oil in many a car and truck over the years, this is a couple of hour endeavor. I used the 10 inch tall Race ramp cribs. They gave you plenty of of room under car, really good product. Panel removal easy but time consuming. I ended up up using a rubber funnel I got off Amazon to prevent the oil from dripping on frame components, it worked great!

Can you provide a photo or link to your Amazon funnel. Thank 😊 you.

I'm over 70 and have always done my oil changes. I don't trust the dealer to do it right, but the best part is being able to inspect everthing from under the car.
It's therapeutic and satisfying for me, being a life long aircraft engineer and mechanic. The money saving is a bonus.

My local Ford dealer in NH did an oil change for $89.95

I work in a shop, so I have a lift at my disposal and get parts at cost.

I would have a hard time getting 10 quarts of full synthetic oil and a Motorcraft filter, plus shop supplies such as towels and cleaners for much less than $65.00

Add to that my time, removing 20 fasteners, waste oil disposal, cleaning up after, etc etc etc and I figure it would cost me money to change the oil.

Same thing happened with my 07 GT, I don't have a lift here at the FL house, and I wanted a dealer oil change to document the mileage on the car (in 2022 it had 12K miles on it and was probably the nicest low mileage 07 Mustang in the state)

Oil change with the Ford specified 0-20 semi synth, motorcraft filter, 2 bottles of Ford limited slip fluid ( the rear end was chattering when hot in tight corners) and it was under $40

Again a 5 qt bottle of oil, a Motorcraft or Wix filter, the whale snot for the rear diff... I could not buy the materials for what the dealer charged me.

You are right it is kind of relaxing in a way, and of course you know it was done carefully. You have the same model as me with the manual, good choice!

I am retired and 64. I enjoy working on my cars like you and have little trust of the oil change jockeys at the dealership. I document the oil changes on the Ford app and keep my own paperwork as proof as well.

Yes the documentation on the Ford site is great, plus keeping records!

I appreciate the time savings by paying someone else to do an oil change.

Also, I’m just not that handy like some people on here to do my own oil change. If you enjoy changing your own oil, I say do it!!

Granted I could figure it out, I just choose not to lol.

So after saying I haven't changed my oil in 10 years and prefer to pay someone, I may end up making a liar out of myself. I got my car up on the new lift for the first time this weekend to get prepped for the next track day, and figured I might as well do it myself while I had it up. So...after 10 years of not changing oil in a car, I just ordered the oil and filter to do it myself. LOL

And you will know with 100% certainly that it was done correctly!

I used to laugh at people who had others change their oil. I always did it myself since I was 16 on my '55 Ford. Now poooff, I'm 75, my dealer labor costs are fair, I don't spill oil on the floor of my garage, I don't have to jack up the car to crawl underneath, getting up is the hard part and I don't have to recycle the old oil. I can get a full syn oil change for around $100 with tire rotations on my Mustang, Escape and F-150 and out lin less than an hour. I can still have fun and get dirty servicing my motorcycles, boat motor, tractor and lawn equipment.
Totally agree. 70 years old here . . . always changed my own oil until this Mustang. Too old to be crawling around on the garage floor and having to remove the "belly pan" was a deal breaker. At least my 2011 BMW 335 had a "trap door" beneath the oil drain plug.
