This is a picture from one of our current threads. Maybe the hardtop just looks better than the convertible, and makes the convertible look more bland. I think this combo looks awesome.

I receive more compliments about my S197 red vert (w/black top) than most folks (around me) talked about S550 verts. I always believed Ford "cheaped" out on the design S550 and S650 convertible tops compared to the S197.The convertible top really didn't do any favors to the S550 and looks like that will continue with the S650. Runs the "fastback" proportions.
Agreed. The convertibles do look sweet with the tops down though. The convertible top really didn't do any favors to the S550 and looks like that will continue with the S650. Runs the "fastback" proportions.
The Camaro convertible top retains the shape of the coupe. The Mustang convertible, not so much. But the Camaro convertible top is not just bland, it's plain ugly.

The interior angle of the roofline (around the rear window) changed with the S550. The angle is steeper than with the S197.The Camaro convertible top retains the shape of the coupe. The Mustang convertible, not so much.

The top of the S197 looks better than both the Camaro and the S550.On the S197, both the interior angle and the exterior angle of the rear side of the top are almost parallel with each other while the other two tops are not.The Camaro convertible top retains the shape of the coupe. The Mustang convertible, not so much.

That's fine for most of us convertible drivers. We don't buy em for top up looks...having to put the top up is a necessary evil...Soft top convertibles never look as good as the non convertible version unless the top is down.
My dermatologist agrees with you. The more, I drive with the top down, the more he gets paid. That's fine for most of us convertible drivers. We don't buy em for top up looks...having to put the top up is a necessary evil...I'm just thankful they still make a convertible...
I thought I was going to buy a Mustang convertible, but I couldn't stomach the extra $7K for the convertible. Not to mention finding convertibles with manual transmission is much harder than the coupe. Especially given that I won't buy a convertible with black interior. Manual transmisson and non black interior eliminates 99.9% of the convertible Mustangs on dealer lots. That's fine for most of us convertible drivers. That's why I always special order. I probably have the only 18 EcoBoost stick shift convertible. I couldn't get anything but black or red interior with the digital gauges so I ended up swapping the interior with katskin leather, which is been awesome. Much higher quality. Dirty rn, but this is how it came out.I thought I was going to buy a Mustang convertible, but I couldn't stomach the extra $7K for the convertible. The Ford version of that for 2019 is very comfortable. The headrest had padding! That's why I always special order. I probably have the only 18 EcoBoost stick shift convertible.
