You have to use an OBD reader or take it to AutoZone or Oreilly. They will read it for free.

Drive it a little it may go out on its own. It can happen sometimes.

Using 93 Oct gas? Top Tier?

I had to use a grocery chain station once, and the car didn't like it at all. Threw a CEL for random misfires. Ran that gas out and went to my usual Exxon, and it hasn't been back on since.

Is the check engine light on inside the car or does the app just give you this message?

While acknowledging that dreaded light. Pop the hood make sure it’s still there. Service engine misfire can occur from anything as simple as no gas cap (doesn’t apply since no cap on ‘24), a loose plug wire, bad gas, oil leak, air leak, internal malfunction, software anomaly. It would be helpful if the app included the ‘code(s)’ with the alert message but since they don’t.

does it idle worse than it did? Gt or eco? Once you get the ‘code’ it should help troubleshooting.

Some part stores will scan for you or any basic code reader should be able to retrieve the code.

there also seems to be some on here that may be able to ‘ping’ it based on your vin and let you know, ymmv.

Both. Chatted with Ford.com rep. Said if light is static, emission control service requires service. If flashing, get checked immediately. Frustrated since it’s still new. Frustrated can’t get it seen sooner. Never cared about this in any other vehicle but this one is my baby.

Interesting. I only use 91 or 93. Mostly 91 from local chain of stores here called Stewart’s. 93 if at Mobile, etc

A flashing CEL is the sure sign of one or more plugs not firing

If you have an intermittent misfire, with enough counts to trip the light, you will get a code P0300 for multiple misfires followed by P030X with X being the cylinder number.

A solid light and a warning about misfire is you have something less serious going on that has to be looked at

The problem is you have to look at the whole picture to see what is going on, it may be a coil, a bad connection, it could be a bad injector, it could be a bunch of things, you have to look at all the codes and figure it out, or go in with a scanner and do some Mode 6 tests such as cylinder contribution

You could pop the battery cable and wipe the code, it will take some time to relearn some functions, and the codes will be stored in the code history

Hi AmyJean! I can look into your Mustang's error message concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Mustang's VIN?

I had the flashing Check engine light on my 2003 GT and I could feel it missing. It was intermittent but I did notice that it seemed to happen when it was raining outside. I used my scanner to log live data and saw that the misfire count on one cylinder was sky high compared to the others. Swapped coil pack and the issue moved to the other cylinder. Replaced coil pack, problem solved.
