Don’t use it a bunch to start the car I can probably count on one hand how much I have but I did today and for the first time ever as soon as I opened the door and nearly sat down the car turned off. Not much info on the internet and the two users I did find on here didn’t have any answers. Has anyone experienced this? If so what happened or what did you do. Thanks

How long between starting and getting in? There are settings for how long it'll run before it shuts off, I think it default to 10 or 15 minutes, wondering if it's a coincidence that you got in and sat down just as the timer expired.

Maybe the car didn't detect the key and turned the engine off for security to make sure the car won't get stolen by someone that's near it.

Is that how it works? I read some stuff online about other brands and it said that some manufacturers have a safety feature like that. But I couldn’t find anything for our mustangs regarding it.

Mine has stalled a few times and had to be restarted. It’s super infrequent, and zero chance it’s going to be reproducible. I remote start almost always, I think since July it’s been... 4 times?

I restart and move on.

Yeah I had a wtf moment and the just used the start button as by that point as I was already sitting in the driver seat lol. Just curious as when I looked it up I couldn’t find much

If you bump the remote start button when sitting in the car it will shut it off also. I have done that a few times over the years with my various Ford's. My keys are always clipped to my right side belt loop and when I climb into the drovers seat every now and again the start button hits the buckle which then shuts the vehicle off.

Also a possibility I’m gonna keep an eye out for it. Definitely had to do a double take. Makes me wanna use remote start exclusively to see if it happens again.

I set mine at 10 minutes.
after it starts on remote control, you still have to sit in your car & push the break and hit the start button.
Then your car will stay on.

I start my car every day with either my fob or app and never had it happen, hope it doesn't 🙏🤞
