Am I missing something? I thought premiums all had the B&O stereo which has the sub? Or was that the 201a package that added it? I forget. I got both the premium + 201A so can’t remember which provided the upgraded stereo…

I picked up the new car yesterday. Other than a tiny 4mm scratch on the front passenger "nose" fascia where it meets the hood (which my dealer is going to have professionally repaired) the car is perfect and a huge upgrade. They ordered a front license plate bracket for the car as CO requires front AND rear plates. I spend a lot of time on the interstate and the CO highway patrol will ticket you for this. I'm going to leave a 12 pack of beer for whoever installs the license plate bracket and another for the paint guy.

Premium vs 201A -

There's no comparison between the regular "premium" 9 speaker stereo and the 201A stereo. The improvement in the sound quality, volume, "power" and lack of rattles is significant. This is a bit of an exaggeration, but the only analogy I could come up with is going from tapes to CDs and just a head unit to an stand alone amp. Everything is cleaner, crisper, I can feel it in my chest, and just sounds better.

The adaptive cruise control is pretty slick. It's very intuitive and easy to use. My wife has this on her Subaru and it's another reason I was excited about the upgrade.

I'm not a big fan of the Nav system so far. That's what Android Auto is for. Even if you don't have Nav selected, it still shows (what it thinks is) the current speed limit, which has been wrong on several local roads.

Maybe it's in my head, but it feels like the seat is more comfortable and can be adjusted to sit much lower in the 201A car. The seat also has memory which is nice because my wife will occasionally drive the car. Not that it matters, but the seatbelt has a silver "accent" in the 201A which I don't really care for. The seats are much softer and less sticky than the regular premiums. The different color stitching and trim in the 201A car looks nice.

There are several more configuration options in the 201A dashboard. I haven't dug fully into it yet, but it lists memory settings/screens that weren't in the other car.

For anybody buying the Premium package, I would recommend having the detailers leave the factory protection on the console and put a screen protector on as soon as you take off the factory protection. I used the Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector [GlasTR Slim] designed for Ford Mustang (2024) 13.2 inch Dashboard Touchscreen - Crystal Clear off Amazon. It only covers the actual touch screen part of the console which is fine by me. I think it still looks good. Note that after almost 10 months in the original car (premium), there were permanent scratches/fingerprints coinciding with the seat heater/cooler buttons on the touch screen and a couple other areas that were touched often. I never used anything but clean dry microfiber clothes to wipe down the screen and it was still lightly scratched. If you don't put on a screen saver, be sure to spray down the screen with glass cleaner before wiping it down.

No regrets.

As for as the performance package, it makes a huge difference. Particularly in accelerating from a dead stop and braking. It definitely pulls harder at lower RPMs. I haven't really flogged it yet, but they're both noticeably improved. I was a little worried the ride would be rougher, but I can't tell a difference. The Brembo brakes and 19" black BBS RK-ish wheels look awesome. The car looks much more aggressive. The "drift brake" is pretty neat but I doubt I'll be doing any drifting. I sort of liked the spoiler on the regular premium so the complete spoiler delete is going to take some getting used to. Since I intend to drive this car year round, I ditched the Z rated tires for Pirelli P Zero AS 4s. I'll flip the brand new tires on Craigslist.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the performance package came with paddle shifters and an "M" option on the drive selector. I'd read a couple places where this was only available on the GTs. I doubt I'll use it a lot, but it will be helpful in the CO mountains going down miles long mountain roads.

I attached a few pictures of the new car. If anybody is interested, I'll provide more updates after driving the car for a few weeks.

Nice. Did you go for the magnarode and active exhaust too? I got those as well on my eco premium w/201A and PP. At this point with Ford removing PP on the 2025, I feel like I have a Bit of a unicorn as very few ecoboosts came with the same setup.

They both have B&O stereo's, but only the 201a package has the sub. Also, the Premium has 9 speakers and the 201a has 12.

For the record - I also thought the Premium had the sub and so did my sales dude who sold me the premium. Also, good luck trying to add a sub to the Premium. I couldn't figure it out.

Same thing with the unicorn! That was a huge part of the appeal. We officially have "rare" cars now. I called my local dealer last week and said I want a 2024 Ecoboost 201A convertible with the PP in grabber blue. They said there were 3 left in the country. I believe mine was trailered all the way from the east coast. I've bought a lot of cars from these guys so I was still able to get it for invoice.

At least at 5300ft altitude, I can say with confidence the Ecoboost is quicker than the GT California with the PP I drove. Like "where's the beef?" quicker. I kept on stomping on it and it made beautiful noises but didn't pull as hard as the Ecoboost Premium with the 3.15 rear end. I suspect Ford recognized this and ditched the PP on the Ecoboost to further differentiate the two tiers of cars.

I didn't get the magnarode or active exhaust. I checked them out on the GT California I ordered and I decided I didn't need them.

As a side note - My other car is a 2002 WRX Impreza in "Blaze Yellow" with 65k original miles and all original drivetrain making around 350hp at the engine. I bought it off the show room floor in 2001. Only 400 of that color were ever made. It's always been garaged. I've now got 2 unicorns!
