It's difficult to get those badges off without damaging them due to the strong adhesive and the amount of force it takes to remove them. The fishing trick definitely helps though. If I had to do it again, I would tie a key ring on each end of the fishing string to make it easier on the fingers. That fishing line digs in and it sure hurts.
Yes, they make an adhesive remover tool that takes it off the panel unless it plastic that's bad. But it's steel on the deck lid.

Send it to me, I'll do it for free. I'll slide it in at work.
No thanks. I'm very picky. Need the exact OEM look. If I find it cheaper i'll do it, otherwise I have to just buy the expensive original one.

Cool, I'm very picky as well. Working in auto body industry for way too long. Just know there is options.

Yes, the nite pony emblems are a nice addition. I have Dark Matter Gray and the black blends nicely. I recommend shopping around my preference is Ford Parts Pro or using Ford Performance with the discount and free shipping to a dealership. Next level is Dark Horse interior pieces;)

As you see in the pic the sun really influences the hue. In lower light it’s a gorgeous blackish and all the metallic is always pleasing.

Love the stripes and sometimes I don't. Mine also have the same striped and sometimes I'm thinking to remove them.

What I like about the matte is it changes based on light conditions too. Many compliments on the stripes.

So the original Nite Pony emblems, a pair of 5.0 badges and the rear GT badge are over 300 USD in total.

These prices are insane through the roof.
Yes, there are cheaper blacked out badges, but they don't look the same as the original ones.

The original ones are gloss around the edges and matt from the inside with a diagonal line pattern.

Any way to find these emblems cheaper? Cause this is a terrible pricing.

I plasti-dipped the front pony emblem and that worked fine. Here's the tutorial I followed, although there are a ton of videos similar to this on YouTube from other people doing the same thing.

The cost of the alternative emblems didn't bother me as much as how long it would take to have to take the front bumper completely off and then put it back together just to change an emblem.

Here’s some pics. The rear GT emblem has a slight slant on the letter G. It don’t bother me one bit and nobody at the last 4 car shows I put it in even noticed.

I just found out that even the original GT emblems are not 100% the same. The 'crooked' GT emblems also appear on the factory Mustangs.

Here is an example of a GT emblem which is on a show model Mustang, way before the Mustangs were on sale.

This made my mibd accept the weird looking GT emblems. It's not weird, but it's just shows that Ford doesn't care to be precise in their work.

I compared different original emblems and they all a bit different from each other.

I wouldn't say necessarily that Ford doesn't care to be precise in their work. Before assembling the cars, Ford imports A LOT of components from overseas, and the reason they do that is because those parts are a fraction of the cost of being made in the US. If all those components were made in the US instead, the cost to Ford and therefore the customer of the mustangs would be significantly higher.

I worked in the corporate procurement department for a "US product" manufacturing plant for years, and that's what we had to do too, otherwise we couldn't compete with what our competitors who were selling similar products. We would still do all the steel-work and assembling of parts and the final product in-house, although if we wanted to step up the quality of many of the smaller parts (most of which nobody noticed the imperfections of) by either making them in-house or sourcing from a US manufacturer, it would have really increased our costs and we would have had to pass those costs on to the customer.

$300 for simple emblems? Sounds like we re tying to chase the Corvette price market.
