What would they really have done to the car other than air intake or headers and how would they come up with such an exact hp number?

No one puts a plaque like that on a car without something behind it. For warranty purposes you need to find out what was done. Tell Carmax that the car was modified and you have to know what was done. They need to contact the former owner on your behalf and get this information. If they say they can’t tell them to take the car back. You could get caught out with a very expensive repair bill if Ford declines a warranty claim for any reason. Aftermarket, 3rd party warranties will not help as they are even worse than the factory warranty.

They can’t “cancel” your warranty. They can deny a claim. Depends what it is for.

I would suggest not talking to Ford until after you know what you have. Best not to have anything on the record that could come back to haunt you.

Can't really see anything out of the norm from these. For headers best shots would be from underneath the car. Honestly though, if you had headers I think you would know. They would be quite audible.

Open the intake boxes. It might have aftermarket filters. Not that those should warrant the placard but I do not see anything else under the hood.
