Oh well, not going to buy it so it’s easier on them. I’ll decide tomorrow when I take my Dark Horse there for comparison.
It's your choice, the whole selection process was put in place to prevent the cars being snatched up by anyone associated with Ford
IE: Dealerships, Suppliers, Advertisers, and direct employees of Ford just like the GTD's

It's in the official rules that most people don't read, the dealer cannot just put it into their inventory and then sell it!
Why not? It was sent as a stock vehicle, not a special order. As long as they document the buyer refusal they should be ok.

I would guess that it boils down to the reputation that dealer has with Ford itself and if they believe them.

It isn't shipped as a stock vehicle, it's shipped as a special assignment vehicle, it doesn't enter dealership inventory nor does it count against their allotment!

If you weren't in the drawing to be selected for the purchase you couldn't get it anyway!
It is a beautiful color!
So wait.

If the car arrives at the dealership and the “approved” buyer flakes out, can’t get financing, changes his mind or whatever as people will do, then what happens? The dealer has to send the car back?

I’m doubting that. Just like a green window sticker customer ordered car, they’ll sell that thing in a flash. Not to mention ADM!

That's not going to be the case, it states that the program administrators have to be notified of it not being delivered and they will decide what to do, as far as not being able to get financing, they have already done the initial veting to ensure that won't be an issue!
These cars are being treated much in the same way that the GTD's are!

Initial vetting? I literally filled out the entry form and when my name was drawn I placed the order same as any others I ordered. No credit app, no credit check, no deposit, etc, etc, etc.

You are partially correct. It IS shipped as a stock vehicle. It does enter inventory. The sticker is that of a stock vehicle. Ford even sent reminders to my dealer of such and that it was intended for me. I'm not sure where you are getting your misinformation but you seem very beholden to it.

you should definitely buy it but buy it to enjoy it… don’t think of it as any kind of investment…

I agree.

If you like the color that’s great and I hope everyone who gets one enjoys it. Consumer tastes change over time. Back in the mid-late ‘60s this color (or very similar) was colloquially known as “no-sale blue”. I realize it later became a recognizable Shelby color.

But thinking about it, cars that become collectible and highly desirable almost never declare themselves as “collector’s editions”, “special editions“, etc. right up front. Rather they are production cars that distinguish themselves with extreme performance coupled with some degree of exclusivity. The recent GT350R immediately comes to mind. ‘69 COPO Camaros, Boss 429s, stuff like that.

Again, not saying it’s not a nice car. It is. But it’s no GTD.

It States in the official rules that it cannot be transferred to anyone and it's up to the sponsor(Ford) what is to be done, it does have the potential of going into dealer stock, but not guaranteed that it will!

The right to order and buy the BB Mustang GT through the contest can't be transferred. Not the car itself once delivered. You are reading more into it than is there for some reason.

A refused car or one that the intended buyer couldn't finance or couldn't otherwise pay for would almost 100% go to the dealer it was delivered to unless it could be shown some shenanigans were afoot. Unless that happens, no harm no foul. It doesn't impact your purchase or mine in any way. We will still get #x of 250.

Ford deals with this type of thing all the time. Probably 10% of these will end up not going to the person that ordered for various reasons. Many of the original winners passed on the car. Ford was still trying to get people to buy the BBs at least through the week before production started.

This 10000%

If you go to bring a trailer and look at the "anniversary edition" Mustangs - they all seem to be going for maybe within a few thousand of the GT version of the cars

And for the OP to say this is being treated like the GTD- ummm....no- Im sorry but not even close....not even in the same universe..... entry form does not = application form

Im sure there will be some dealer that will mark it up by 30K in hopes some dumb person will pay it though.....

Thanks, they are aiming to produce 250 out of the 1965 being offered, the VIP rep for it said that if they don't reach that number by the start of production in 2 weeks, the selection process is going to stop, which will lower the total number produced, I'm curious as to why they haven't been all accounted for yet??
The fact all 250 didnt sell out immediately kind says everything you need to know- Im betting if they did a special edition Dark Horse limited to 250 people that came from the factory supercharged - it would be sold out in 30 seconds and people would be selling their spots in line

But as I mentioned- it is a beautiful color - so if you like it you should buy it- all of this doesnt change the fact its a really nice car...
