Hi Ace,

Correct, I’m a stage 2 whipple set up. I haven’t dyno’d since first putting the whipple on…at that time with no other mods we were about 730 RWHP. Since then have added long tube headers, gone down 3 pulley sizes from 3.750 to 3.375, added a boost-a-pump to ensure fuel delivery for smaller pulley size and filled the tank half full of MS109. We also changed both the OPG’s and lower crank gear at time of whipple instal.

The stock half shafts seemed to do ok on the stage 2 until we went down on the pulley which we added headers and 109 at the same time for Fridays runs. I’m assuming we are probably closer to anywhere from 780 to 800 RWHP at this point.

If you are planning on staying stock with the whipple stage 1 only then you may be good to go, especially if not drag racing on a well prepared sticky track. As for the crank gear, my opinion, cheap insurance to just replace while putting on the whipple. May not be necessary but definitely won’t hurt I’m thinking. Same with OPG’s, not expensive considering whipple cost so peace of mind replacing at the same time even if not necessarily mandatory.

Wow! Nice setup and sounds like fun!

Thanks for the advice and initially we will probably just do the stage one so may go ahead and replace crank gear and OPG at initial whipple install that way if we decide to go bigger power we will be prepared.

With running the 1/2 mile we like to go incremental so we can see the results in MPH.

Thanks for the advice and good luck with your build.

Question? Does anyone know what size pulley comes with the Ford Performance Stage one Whipple kit. On the Ford Performance website it only shows the following:

The Ford Performance kit includes:
  • Gen 6 3.0L Whipple Supercharger
  • Whipple exclusive inverted twin screw design
  • Patented dual pass intercooler
  • M-9926-M5292 92mm throttle body
  • M-12405-M50A colder spark plugs
  • GT500 port fuel injectors
  • Ford Performance exclusive calibration
  • Tomahawk calibration delivery tool
  • ***PREMIUM FUEL REQUIRED*** [91+ octane]

Literally put in gt350 driver side half’s half last weekend.
Is that the side that broke?

also this is why I’m HUGE on using bias plys… radials need everything right to work, chassis, pressure, prep etc… and will still break stuff

I know it’s a pain, but they’re so much easier on parts given the ability to absorb shock.
Do you have the part number for the gt350 axles?

I've also been doing some digging on this as it was an area of concern. According to what Ford Performance told me (with Stage 1 kit)

If you plan to track the car, even one time, best swap those halfs.
If you are street driving, on regular performance tires, and a Stage 1 kit, you should be okay

Once you start adding more grip and more boost you need to swap the shafts otherwise you gonna leave parts behind.

Should be able to get better price, 510 seem high unless MSRP went up 25%

I had Ford performance half shafts installed on mine. I have a stage 1 Whipple, and may never drag race. I'm more around town and open road. Definitely one of those spin donuts around town type either. Originally wanted carbon fiber one piece, but when they fail they're like dropping an old light bulb on concrete. Plus I hear they last about seven years. If I were a drag racer I'd get one. I drive to and from the drag strip.

Have you seen the prices of anything lately? Eggs, need I say more?

Also that's the price from Ford performance directly. It seems like CJ Pony Parts has them for 407

Are you talking about axles or drive shafts?
