Same story, I had 2015 it's still happening. My 2024 which I don't drive during the winter months. Low miles super clean. I work in the autobody industry. Sad but true. I'm super anal, I can fix it because I can without painting the complete the hood. Aka small damage repair. Going to fix it. Be aware, maybe ppf if was wrapped over the edge maybe? I know not real world problems. Also I have minimal paint chips. It won't corode like steel, but wtf. Warranty will cover it but depends on who you trust to repair it?

You may say the picture is terrible, but trust me, I just washed it and took it out for rip. Wasn't there I know every inch of my car. Just saying! It pissed me off, but it is what it is.

Ford slapping those $60k+ mustangs together with kWaliTy.
Sorry to see that OP. If it gets worse over the next year, I would bring it to your dealer and have them replace the hood just like they did with all the 2015s.

I can fix it, without them fn up my car lol. I'm lucky, it's just a heads up. Just sad it's still a problem. Again not real real problems, but we love our cars, to many it's just a car. Lol

I had my hood replaced under warranty on my ruby red 2019.. The dealer didn’t have a body shop and used a local shop, Ford paid them $2300 and supplied the new hood. It went back 3 times and was never right.. if it happens on my 24 I’ll be buying an aftermarket hood and will have a trusted painter take care of it. Lesson learned on the 19

After seeing that pic, you will have me scrutinizing the edges of all my sheet metal when I break her out of winter storage. That really is unacceptable.

Yes but, I can't let them do it. I will fix it at my shop. Going to do a small damage repair. I will show the before and after pictures. Noticed it early, so it will be a small repair. They will make a mountain out of a mole hill js. Just sucks same story different day. Did the same on my 2015.

Some warranty claims are good but a corrosion claim is not. It will show up on a vehicle history. If done at the dealer. Should we have to pay to fix it? No but, a shop that can fix it is a better option unfortunately.

Good Luck jimbo67.....it's just sad that after several years of THE SAME problems why does Ford still preps and paints Aluminum Hoods "WRONG" if that's what it is??!!

My neighbor has had at least 2 Aluminum F-150'S and there has been NO CORROSION so I wonder what's the difference in the Mustang hood and F-150's??

@jimbo67 ..... yes, really annoying. Small comfort but Jeep and Buick also have the same problem because of aluminum hoods. In the factories steel dust drifts in the air no matter how hard companies try to control it. If any gets on aluminum you have a high chance of getting a "reaction" between dissimilar metals. A new hood does not guarantee a better outcome. I sold my 2014 mustang to a friend. There was exactly the same "reaction" (corrosion is actually not an accurate word). He knew and we agreed on a price that reflected it. We took it to a a body specialist who had a painter with decades of experience. He said the only way to address the issue (with no guarantee) was to sand down the entire hood both sides, metal fill any "reacted" areas, sand again, wipe with acetone then a neutralizer, spray the entire hood with zinc chromate, sand with 1000 grit, clean again, spray a second coat of zinc chromate, two coats of finish primer, sand, two coats of paint, with sanding and then clear coat. Cost $1,000.00 Asked what he would do and he said go aftermarket with a composite top as he could not guarantee permanent solutions with any "reacted" imperfections from a factory with aluminum hoods (or parts) - or fix it yourself involving as small an area as possible and fade your spray and buff the edges then clear coat - much cheaper and nearly as effective. My friend did neither he's waiting for it to get worse then we'll do it ourselves.

I had the same hood corrosion issue when I took delivery of my new ‘24 GT. The driver door also had massive paint defect deep to the top coat. Got the hood replaced and I need to take it back to the body shop to have them look at it again, less than 12 mo later.

Yeah it sucks, I'm fortunate to be able to fix myself without replacing the hood or painting the whole panel. Who knows might pop up again? It's probably still the same as previous issues of bi metal corrosion. I have 2018 f150 and doesn't have the same problem. Sad that you would probably have to replace it with an aftermarket hood. See how it goes, and hope for the best. You would think they would have corrected this since it's been an issue with mustangs for so long.
