Anyone with a whipple and stock oil gears?

Curious if oil pump gears are required or suggested for a stage 2 kit….800ish HP on the gen4s.

They’ve always been snake oil.

Take OPG money and set it aside for a aluminator short block if something bad happens.

I've got the stock OPG's and sprocket in my manual premium GT and on my 10 speed DH. The DH is most likely making over 1000rwhp and has been raced several times without any issues.

With that said I do typically recommend them to customers as they cost a lot less than an engine rebuild.

I did oil pump gears and crank sprocket. Seems like after the gen 1s, you don't hear of many issues but with a MT and raising the rev limiter I would rather just do it. I think if I was auto, I might skip it. Honestly there is probably a bigger risk chucking a rod than opg or breaking a crank with a Whipple these days.

We have a lot of customers running the MFP kit with excellent results. As to both of our Whipple'd S650 cars we currently aren't running crank supports though. If you're worried about the cost of having to rebuild a motor due to a crank failure then I would recommend getting one.
