i recommend going for the slotted only versions. in theory, drilled rotors can crack, requiring immediate replacement. slotted rotors dont have that risk, but still have improved visuals. doing some surface-level searching also says that drilled rotors could technically fade faster due to reduced thermal mass but have better cooling, but the only real downside to slotted rotors is brake pad life, but with a theoretical better initial bite because each of the slots scrapes away a layer of brake pad, as well as providing an escape channel for gasses from hot brake pads that may otherwise reduce contact. there is a reason why the GT350 dropped the drilled rotors with the 2019+ refresh

It is true that drilled rotors can and have cracked. Its not a matter of if its when. The speed is dependent on severity of use. Once you start to see cracks forming its going to spread to another hole. Slotted rotors are better and unless you are regular tracking your car its not worth the increased dust and wear on the brake pads for a car that goes out on weekends or is a fun grocery getter.

So I have searched for threads on this but haven't found what 'i'm looking for. We have the PP on our convertible and i'm looking for a drilled and slotted rotors for both, performance and aesthetics. The Bear two piece certainly looks great but it is a little pricey for what we are doing with the car. has anyone gone with a slotted and drilled one piece for the PP Mustang?
I didn't make my initial question clear enough. I wanted to know (if at all) has anyone purchased one piece rotors that were drilled or slotted to for the PP Mustangs? We have a convertible so it's not a track car. I understand the what drilled or slotted rotors can do as far as benefits as well as what there negatives can be.

Thank you

Slotted rotors do not improve any heat transfer (exception - Vented Rotors). However, the slots can improve brake output by removing gas and dust that is trapped between the pad and rotor. This gas and dust reduces the friction force by preventing the pad from fully contacting the rotor.

Given the choice between drill holes and slots, the drill holes will give you better braking power over slots for normal city/highway driving. This is why high end BMW, Porsche, Corvette, and Mercedes rotors are drilled, not slotted. However, for track racing (high speed stops), slotted rotors are the better choice.

Sorry about that though you should watchout for that sort of thing and brake dust will increase a bit with them. https://brakeperformance.com/brake-rotors/premium-cross-drilled-&-slotted-brake-kit.php here is one place seems they have crap warrantee.

Probably not going to see many options for a while unfortunately that seems to be the issues with this gen so far.

I mean what are the conditions you were in to cause this? Many vehicles have drilled and slotted and work well. I’ve had them and no issues. There are variable that can cause this for sure but also these rotors can last a good while too

I converted my 2013 Focus ST to Power Stop brakes (drilled/slotted zinc coated rotors, pads, and calipers & brackets). Partway through the '14 ST model year; Ford went to slightly bigger front rotors, so I upgraded to the larger rotors/brackets.

Definitely improved my braking (likely 10-15%), and I never experienced any trouble with them. And the zinc coating looked sharp! I have two friends who've also used PS kits, and favorably report on their experiences; though neither recommend them for anything other than improved street braking.

The rotors on my '16 Focus RS were all near/at minimum spec when I bought it. I replaced them with Stop Tech slotted rotors (and Hawk HPS ceramic pads). Never had any trouble with them either.

Both cars were used as DDs/GGs with the occasional bout of vigorous country road driving.

As others have noted; if your budget will stand it/them; Baers, Wilwoods, and the like are much better premium rotor choices. Really depends on your intended usage.

This is the "kit" but you can get just the rotors from any number of vendors.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

I put Powerstop Rotors, and pads, on the 2019 Mustang GT I had. They looked and performed great. Can't speak to the longevity of them as I did not keep the car for long.

I have drilled and slotted rotors on four cars as I speak, and have never experienced then cracking under normal usage. My track car has slotted only, but my Dark Horse, S550 GT/CS and Corvette all have Baer two piece and my SN95 convertible have some cheap ones because I don't drive it much.
