Can you add paddle shifters to non performance pack s650?

Is it possible to buy a wheel with paddle shifters and get those working with s650? I know that is possible in s550 but not sure about s650

I'd like that myself, but we're talking about software as well as hardware. I'd be surprised if you can, but with enough money you buy anything.

For Ecoboost, you need the PP, otherwise even Premium trim does not have the paddles.
Very bad choice from Ford to leave them out.

its a little unclear, so dont quote me on this, but it almost looks like the only limiting factor is whether or not you have paddle shifters and whether or not the software is set up to work with them. again, its difficult to tell, mainly because the 2.3L High Performance Package also comes with the drift brake, which requires a different wiring harness for the drift brake

If you're cleaver, you can actually use at least the first 5 gears getting them to shift when you want them to. It requires a lot of switching between L, D, and N, but it can be done. But why?

Yes it is possible. The paddles do not work currently in the L gear but will allow you to shift in the D gear.

no forscan needed.

as far as i know, there is no difference between a vehicle with "L" and "M", so you can probably enable the M mode with the paddle shifters working with FORScan

For the paddles to work in the ā€œMā€ gear, I think you need to enable select shift in the PCM on forscan.

yep, the PCM has a value that you just change from 1 to 2 to enable "Select Shift Transmission"

I didn't know there were models without paddles! How is it supposed to work, there's no "M" mode on the knob at all (since you can't shift manually)?

I have a 2024 GT premium 401-A package.
My Mustang has the paddle Shift.
I believe all the GTā€˜s premiums 401-A have the paddle shif. .
I would assume the 300 plus packages would also have the Paddle Shift?

I have ecoboost premium with the $3k upgrade for premium equipment group, I think for ecoboost it only comes in performance pack

Correct, the non-HPP EcoBoost models do not come with factory paddle shifters and have a ā€œLā€ drive mode where ā€œMā€ is on the models with paddle shifters.

I can confirm that swapping the wheel to one with paddle shifters does work (either a GT take-off, or a Dark Horse wheel which also adds the satin black trim piece), the wiring is all the same. The only thing that will not work is adding a heated steering wheel if your model was not originally specā€™d for one, that wiring isnā€™t there.

No FORscan is needed if you just want to use the paddles in ā€œD,ā€ but you do need to enable Select Shift with FORscan to make the ā€œLā€ mode work like ā€œMā€, thatā€™s an easy change to make. The only thing I havenā€™t figured out yet is ā€œContinuous Gear Displayā€ which should be editable via FORscan but isnā€™t working for me yet (EcoBoost, 101A, non-HPP) so although the paddles do work, my dash does not ever show which gear Iā€™m in.
